If I get to wake up with Elia in my arms every morning, I'm not sure I would ever want to do anything but sleep. Just the simple fact that she trusted me enough to stay the night with me, meant a lot. 'I can't want to do it again tonight,' River says with excitement. I smile to myself, remembering what it felt like to hold her body against mine.
Heaven is the only word that describes that feeling. I enter the dining room table only to earn a few stares from my subordinates. "Someone seems awfully cheery today!" Sadie giggles, looking at me. Her eyes drift to my neck and she raises an eyebrow. "No mark?"
"Oh be quiet and calm down," I grumble, my good mood fading away. "Anyways, Elia might be a while. She was taking a bath it seems."
The others nod their head as Danny walks in with Killian. Both seem to be slightly blushing last night. "Look who comes walking in late! I'm surprised you can walk at all," Gabe teases. "You two made a lot of noise last night-"
"Shut it Gabriel or you'll end up in the hospital for a week!" Killian threatens. I laugh a little, sitting at my place at the table.
"Is it alright if I go hang with Elia until she comes down?" Daniel speaks up. River growls at the thought of another man with her while she was unclothed. "Hang on, I know what you're thinking! But as fate would have it, and maybe even some personal preference, I'm not into girls like that. And while Eli is my best friend, she's also like a sister to me-"
The revelation seems to have calmed River down quite a bit. "Fine. But if I find out anything happened, you'll be buried alive," I growl. Killian stares at me and I see his wolf trying to break through to the surface.
Daniel grabs his hand to calm him down and nods at me. "Of course. Nothing will go down. I promise!" he says, smiling. I nod and he hesitates before kissing Killian's cheek and running off.
The man is stunned and stares after his mate with a slight blush on his face. "What's for breakfast?" Austin asks, trying to dissolve the awkward atmosphere. I shrug a little and sip on the tea an omega brought out for me.
"I dunno. But I'm gonna wait for Elia first before I eat," I state. Sadie snickers at me.
A crash sounds from the kitchen, making us all jump a little. I groan and stand, going to see what all the commotion is. "I'm sorry Alpha," one of the kitchen staff says, bowing as low as they can get.
'He is the one who touched our mate yesterday!' River snaps in my head. I look at him and nod. So he was.
"Explain yourself," I command, my aura slipping out a little. The omega falls to his knees, gasping a little.
"I-I bumped into Evelina a-and she dropped a tray of glasses," he stutters out. A heavy sigh leaves my lungs as I pinch the bridge of my nose and stare at him. He hasn't looked up at me once.
"Just clean it up and watch where you're going next time, alright?" He glances at me and nods his head yes violently to the point I fear he might snap his neck in half. "Oh, and... don't ever touch my mate again," I warn. He nods again and I walk out, taking my seat again.
Gabe looks at me as he eats a bite of toast. "Alright, spill. Who are you, and what have you done with my best friend?" he jokes. I roll my eyes and he snickers before a heavenly scent wafts over to my nose, making me stiffen.
My eyes dart over to the origin and I see Elia standing there. She was wearing a dark blue sundress that tempted the mind with a glimpse of her perfect legs. Her hair was braided over her shoulder and she was smiling softly at me. 'Give me. Get her! Mark her!!! She's mine!!!!' River shouts. I can feel him trying to take over, and it's all I can do to keep control.
"You good, man?" Austin asks, looking at me. I don't answer and just growl at him as my mate pulls out the chair next to me and goes to sit down. No, no, no! She will not!
My body moves of its own will and pulls her into my lap. She squeaks a little and I begin to inhale her intoxicating scent. 'Why must you tempt me so damn much? Do you not want to walk that badly, little Luna?' I ask. I know she's not part of my pack, so I don't expect an answer, but I can't help the thoughts that go through my head.
I pull away a little to look at her and she's looking back. Instinct takes over and I kiss her. The fire that started when I did was almost overwhelming. I didn't want to stop. I could slightly smell her getting aroused which is starting to get to me too now.
"Hey, hey hey! We get it, she smells nice and you two are mates, but cmon man. We're at the table," Gabe groans. I glare at him, narrowing my eyes before feeling Elia wiggle and move out of my lap. Her face is very red and her eyes are dark.
To save them all from the events going on, the omegas begin to bring out the food. It seemed to be bacon, eggs, and pancakes. Elia's eyes lit up and she thanked the kitchen staff. They smiled and disappeared from sight as the rest of us began eating.
"Gabe, how quickly do you think you could whip up a Luna ceremony?" I ask. He damn near chokes on the half of the pancake he shoved in his mouth, syrup dripping down his chin.
"That came out of nowhere. It'll probably take a few days at least, why?" he questions, looking me up and down.
Elia shifts in her seat. "The Elders gave me and Elia a week to mark each other and afterwards she'll have her ceremony," I inform. His eyes widen a little and he glances at her.
"Right. I'll get on that as soon as I can. Luna Monica will probably want to help though." He pulls out his phone and types something before nodding. "She does. Is that alright with you?" he asks Elia. She nods, not looking at him.
"Perfect," I say, smiling at her. She looks up at me before Sadie gasps.
"That means... I get to help too!! Oh! I'm so excited!" She squeals and the rest of us laugh along.
The rest of breakfast was pleasant as I got up to go to my office. I'll have to do an introduction for Daniel and Elia to the pack before the ceremony. It shouldn't be anything too grand, but it's necessary for the pack to know her before she's introduced as the new Luna.
I run my fingers through my hair and unlock my computer and start organizing the event. "Will the whole pack be needed for this?" I inquire to no one in particular. "How about half?"
Hours go by without me even realizing it and I've almost finished the work I needed to get done today. The financial side of the pack has been balanced and gone through with a fine tooth comb, members of the packhouse have been paid, requests for leave have been assessed, and about a million other things.
Gabe walks in with his laptop, groaning loudly as he plops on the couch adjacent to my desk. I look up from my screen to inspect him before going back into it. "What do you want, Gabriel?" I sigh.
He looks at me and just stares until I meet his gaze. "You know it's time for lunch, right?" I nod and he sits up a little straighter. "Isn't it time to take a break? It's time for lunch actually. Elia is already in the dining room-" I don't let him finish as I turn off my computer and bolt up, rushing to the door.
Elia will always come first and foremost in everything. F**k work! I can finish it tonight. Though, I'm not gonna stay too late. I will have someone waiting for me.
I hear a lot of yelling as I near the dining room only to find Delilah there, standing off against Elia. The height difference was sort of funny actually, but you could tell the difference in power. "What's going on?" I demand, walking up to the two.
"This b***h just ruined my shirt! She spilled wine all over it, just because I called her out!" Delilah exclaims. I notice a few tears fall from her eyes and internally cringe.
"That's a lie and you know it! You did it yourself and now you're just trying to blame me!! I haven't done a thing to you," Elia explains. "You're just trying to get my mate's attention."
Delilah scoffs and folds her arms, smirking like she's won something. Or she's planning something. "Trying? Oh, honey, I've had his attention since we were teenagers. I was his first for everything. You're just another notch on his belt for now that he'll be over soon. I give it two weeks before he rejects your sorry warrior ass, if not less," she laughs.
Anger rolls off of me as I lift my hand to smack some sense into this deranged woman, but Elia shakes her head. I can see the tears threatening to fall from her eyes. Instead of responding she just pushes past us both and runs out of the packhouse.
"What do you think you're doing?" I seethe. Delilah turns to me and smiles softly. She attempts to get closer and I move away.
"I'm only doing you a favor, babe. You don't need her, the Goddess told me so! She gave me a vision of us together with a litter of pups," she gushes. My face contorts with disgust.
"Listen here. I will, NEVER, want you. Not in a million years. Not in this life, the next, or even the afterlife. If you spew your bulls**t to my mate again, I will have you killed for treason before you can even blink, do I make myself abundantly clear?" She nods her head slowly, her lip quivering.
I say nothing more and go to chase after Elia, praying she'll let me explain everything. I can't lose her when I've just gotten her. If she leaves me, I swear I will make that woman pay! Please, Goddess. Let me keep her with me. Please...
