Chapter 11. Signs

Elia I couldn't help how incredibly pissed I was. Tingles start to spread over my body as I stare at my friend. Sadie bows her head in submission as Zane's alpha aura starts to seep into the room. I heard him yell something but my focus was on my child who could've been harmed and my best friend who was harmed. The b***h from earlier stands there. 'Serves that a**hole right for saying I'm not the future Luna,' I hear in her voice in my head. Zane may have missed it, but I don't miss the split-second smug look that flashes across her face. "You. B***h," I say, my voice cold. Sadie shivers as she looks at me. I take a step towards her and a sound like ice crackling sounds. "Elia... S-stop," Danny says in a strained voice. I look down at him before glaring at the woman and kneeling before him. "Take little Ethan." I nod and take him, holding him close to my chest, trying to calm him. Zane walks over and helps Danny up, who breathes out sharply, his arm bleeding a lot. Sadie comes to help. I look around for Alex and Iris, alarm spreading through me until I see three brand-new bassinets near the couch. "I'll ask one more time. What the hell happened?" Zane questions, his eyes on the woman. Danny holds his arm, which hasn't stopped bleeding by now. "It was my fault, Alpha," he says. Zane looks at him. "I tripped." My gaze falls on the unnamed one. "I don't believe that," I sneer while glaring at her. Her body shifts as Zane looks at me and then her. "You pushed him, didn't you?" She shakes her head violently. "She did, Zane," Sadie speaks up. "Delilah strolled in here and told Danny to put the brat he was holding down and to make her something to eat. When he refused, she said he had to as his future Luna. Danny laughed and said that Elia was the future Luna and he only had to listen to you or her as far as he was concerned." Zane nods along to the story and I can see the rage building up within him. "She got mad and pushed him into the coffee table. He turned his body to try and keep Ethan from getting hurt while he fell. I screamed because I didn't want him to be killed by the fall and he started crying. That's when you two came," she finishes as the other ranked males come in. "So you lied," Zane says, looking at Delilah. Her face pales as he walks over to her and grabs her by her throat. "There is no tolerance to lying to me. I don't care who you are. On top of that, you hurt my gamma and my mate's best friend." "Danny!" Killian says, running over to him, and checking out his arm. I see his wolf at the surface as he growls at Delilah. "Do you have a death wish?!" Sadie comes over and takes Ethan from my arms. "Elia. As future Luna and Daniel's friend, decide her fate," Zane orders, leaving no room for questions. I looked at Delilah, who was desperately trying to get Zane to remove his grip on her. "Since Ethan is not harmed, but the gamma is, she should be placed in silver cuffs in the dungeons," I say. Delilah cries out as much as she can with Zane no doubt squeezing her windpipe. Two guards appear and take her away. I walk to my best friend and look at his wound. "I always hated stitches," he laughs a little. I pull my shirt over my head and start cleaning some of the blood. "I know, Danny. I know," I chuckle. Gabe comes up and hands me some medical-grade thread and a needle along with another shirt, some gauze, ointment, cotton balls, medical tape, and alcohol. Danny groans when he sees it. I take some of the cotton balls and pour alcohol on them, beginning to clean the wound on both sides of his arm as the wood had gone through. Luckily for him, none had splintered off otherwise this would be something completely different. "You know, if I was a vampire, that might've killed me," Danny jokes. A few laughs sound through the room. I shake my head at the stupidity of it and when I'm done cleaning the blood from the wound and am successful in getting it to stop bleeding, I start threading the needle. Turning to look back at his arm, I place my hand on it and I feel warm and tingly all over as I watch the wound start to heal on its own. I watch in amazement and confusion as Danny's jaw drops, his gaze boring into me. "Oh. Well, I guess your wolf healed you faster than we knew," I say. "Yeah right!" he says. He pulls my hair a little and I look down at it just as it stops glowing. I jump back, grabbing at my hair. "What the f**k??!" I exclaim, looking at it. My gaze falls on the others, especially Zane. "I... I don't know what happened." "It seems your abilities were late bloomers," he says. "Or maybe finding and marking me had something to do with it." "Abilities?" Killian questions, looking over Danny's arm. "What do you mean abilities?" The others look at me with the same puzzled expression on their faces, besides Zane and Danny. "There's a legend going around that every few hundred years or so, a descendant of the Moon Goddess is born. Usually during times of hardship or before a great war. He or she is said to have powers and abilities to aid their people and protect them. I was kidnapped as a kid because of it. They killed my parents and I grew up with the head warrior. "I tried for years to do something. I wanted to justify the death of my parents to some degree. Like, maybe if I could do something, then maybe there was a reason they died. It never worked." I feel tears falling down my face as a sob works its way up. "After all these years, something FINALLY happens!" I felt frustrated and I could feel Artemis stirring within me. Zane walks over and pulls me into his arms again. "We'll find them, Luna Elia," Gabe says, getting down on one knee in front of me. Danny looks at him before following suit and then Killian, Austin, and Sadie. Their heads lowered with the silent oath to me. Zane pulls away and gets down as well, holding my hand. "We'll find the b*****ds that did this and make them pay for it," he promises. I nod and smile at them, tears still falling. It makes me feel good knowing I am no longer alone. Zane kisses my hand before standing up and pulling me into his arms. The others stand and hug me too. I can feel the love and support. It may have only been a day since I've been here, but I feel like I belong here and I don't want I leave. After a few minutes, the others disperse and Zane kisses my forehead before going back to his office I assume, leaving me, Killian, Sadie, and Danny with the triplets. "So... do you guys wanna go shopping for the babies?" I inquire. Sadie gasps and nods, jumping up and down. "Absolutely!! I'll go get the credit cards from the Alpha since these are technically his kids now," she snickers. I laugh a bit and she runs off. Killian stays with Danny, his arms wrapped around him. "I'm okay, love. It's all healed," Danny says, reassuring him. Killian doesn't do anything but nuzzle his face into Danny's neck. "I don't care if it's healed, you still got hurt and I couldn't do anything to help you," he whines. "I'm your mate. I'm supposed to keep you safe. I know what your rank was before, but... you shouldn't have to be hurt anymore just because of that." Daniel smiles gently and kisses his mate. "I know, but don't worry. Me and E are thick as thieves. She'd never let anyone hurt me. And get away at least," he laughs. I feel a huge grin spreading across my face. "Of course not. You're like my brother," I grin. "Which means only I get that privilege." He rolls his eyes at me, but I can see the hint of a smile on his face. "You know it's true, Danny boy!" "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Let's go get stuff for the kiddos. I think Sadie might explode if we don't." I turn to look at the female in question and sure enough, she looks so expectant that she just might burst into a million pieces. Shaking my head, I grab Ethan while Sadie grabs Alex and Danny holds Iris. The three of them blink up at us adults and I can't help the small chuckle that escapes. "Oh, Elia. I took the liberty of ordering them a stroller. It'll be easier to shop for them that way if we don't have to hold them," Sadie informs me. I smile at her and she leads us to the front door where a brand-new stroller is waiting. It was a lovely shade of blue-green with black mandala patterns and silver embroidery. My breath hitches as I see it. "Oh! It's beautiful!" I exclaim. "Glad you like it." Sadie smiles at me before putting the triplets in and securing them. "There's a mall nearby if you wish to walk instead of taking a car," she suggests. "Walking sounds nice. Exercise, fresh air. What's not to enjoy? And, it would be a great time to start introducing Luna Elia to the rest of the pack members, away from formal events," Killian states. "It makes her seem more personable, which is a good quality in a luna." "True. So walking it is!" Danny opens the door as I push the stroller out and the four of us begin our journey to the mall. I feel eyes on me as we head off and turn to scan the woods behind us. Pausing, I swear I see something or someone move in the distance. My blood feels like it's gone cold, stopping in my veins as a familiar scent hits my nose. But it couldn't be. They were dead. They perished years ago in front of my own eyes. Unless... it wasn't them. "Hey!" I jerk my gaze away from the shadowy trees to look at Sadie and Daniel as well Killian with extremely concerned faces. "You alright, E? We lost you for like five minutes. I almost had Kill link your mate." I force a smile on my face and nod. It seems to ease Sadie's nerves, but it doesn't completely convince Danny or Killian. "I'm alright. Thought I saw something, but I was just talking with Artemis." 'Don't you throw me in this. I haven't seen a thing. But don't forget you are wanted. It could be someone playing tricks on you, or even your mind making up what you so desperately wish to be true,' Artemis chimes. I almost roll my eyes at her. 'I know, I know. But I swear I caught my parents' scent...'
