Adrian found me on the fourth day.
That day, I was in a meeting at Blackwell Tower.
More than a dozen members sat in the conference room, each one heading one of the family's core businesses.
I sat at the head of the table with a stack of documents in front of me.
I was listening to the CFO present the quarterly results when the door was suddenly pushed open.
Everyone looked up.
Adrian stood in the doorway.
His suit was wrinkled, his tie hung crooked, and his eyes were red.
"Serena."
I frowned and said to everyone else, "Take five."
The conference room emptied. In the end, it was just Adrian and me.
"How did you find this place?" I asked.
"I checked your background." His voice was hoarse. "Your father... is Lucian Blackwell?"
"Yes."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
