Chapter two

Isabella Seeing that man in the diaper aisle had been such a paradox for me I nearly laughed. He had to be over six foot, with dark brown hair he looks so handsome with his sharp jawline features. Also, his arms were filled with tattoos. I noticed his wedding ring and I straight off and felt I should save him from lashing his wife on bringing home the wrong diaper. I remember how my sister was the first few months after she bathed me. To forgive was never part of the menu, so yea I had to take pity on him. It has been two weeks since I saw Antonio and his child, and I must say I would be lying if I didn't check the diaper aisle just to see them again. I was always wondering how they were doing are they thriving hard are things getting better? My thoughts drifted again, immediately after I got into the elevator my legs started hurting, hitting me with the realization of just leaving another twelve hours shift. My feet were killing me, I also had to change out of my scrub and from this disgusting smell of fluid that where on me. I also need to eat, Omg I need a break to take care of myself. Next day Towards, the cool night, my friend's phone rang the sound of disgust was incredibly authentic. It was late, and the number was local so my anxiety automatically skyrocketed. "Hello," I answered aggressively. I was greeted with wailing cries. "I can't get her to stop, what do I do?" His voice sounded for assistance. My mind clicked into place. "Antonio?"I asked. "Yeah, this is Isabella right?" Anyway I am sorry it's just that she has been crying for hours none stop, I don't know what to do could you tell me thing to do. "Ok, I am sure you have done the usual fed her, changed her, rocked her, I asked. "Yes, I also took her for a drive. Which usually Works but didn't work today. I am getting tired of her screams already! Can you suggest something for me, please? "Hold on, let me get to one of the pediatric nurses. I will get back to you. "You are at work?" He asks. I shouldn't have bothered you "I am so sorry." I can handle this don't worry. " Nope I just got off work, I said" so it's fine. Just let me ask and I would get back to you, I said walking towards the nurse's station. "Hey Kelly, my friend's baby has been crying for hours none stop! He has tried all the usual stuff, any idea?" I asked, her and she thinks for a minute. "Any fever?could be teething ." She responded. "Or colic. Maybe try some gripe water. The other nurse says. "Antonio, does Loreal have a fever?" I ask him. "Ah, f**k I don't have a thermometer but she doesn't feel hot in my arms. Should I take her to the hospital, He asked in a panic. "No, don't worry, or rather not yet, I have a thermometer. Just text me your home address, and I will be there soon. "Ok, he sighs, Thank you." "I went home and took a shower, had my cloth changed, packed a few things with my thermometer, and went down to the store and got the gripe water the other nurse suggested, I also got food for myself because I was famished. "I also got food for Antonio, just in case he hasn't had anything because I doubt he would have eaten, because of the screams and all from the baby. " A short while I pulled up in front of the address he gave me, this place looks more like a mansion to me, I mean "The grand mansion's intricate architecture design, elegant chandeliers, and ornate furnishings exuded an air of sophistication that left me in awe." "I grabbed everything from my car, walked towards the door pressed the door, and swiftly nervous Antonio open up, in my heart I was praying it wasn't so serious. "Thank you for coming, " He says. "Thank you for calling, I have been thinking of you two," I say and he looked surprised. "Really? He asked, I smiled and nodded my head. " I mean it's not every day we get to see a handsome man and his beautiful baby girl. I responded and it seems it made him happy, it brightened his entire face. He just lost his wife, My hormones need to stay in check. "I got the thermometer out, and run it over Loreal's head three times to get the average. "No fever and his whole body relaxes." Uhm I also got the gripe water, one of the nurses suggested it. "He took it and gave it to her, she stopped crying instantly and he was amazed. "Can I pick her up?" I asked just in case he might not want that, he nods and watch me curiously. I lifted the little nugget, and pat her slowly she released a little burp and slept right away. "She is in her sleeping moments, right now." "He smiled, you have just been here for five minutes and I couldn't even stop her for over five hours. "I asked the other nurses for help, it's not my doing." I grabbed the other bag. "Here I got you some food, mostly because I am starving and I didn't want to be rude by shoving a sandwich in my face in front of you, but I figured you haven't eaten today. "I say handing him the sandwich and a bag of chips. "He looks at me and shakes his head." "You are just something else." "I hope that's a good thing, I said with a small laugh." "Yeah, he stood and got us, water and we sat and ate together in silence." "How long did you work today?" I yawned and answered. "Twelve hours." And it was a shithole day! "I am sorry, I shouldn't have called you." No, it's nothing it's fine, I was already done for the day so I don't mind. "And besides I am happy, you called I was able to put her to sleep, just take a look at her in my arms. "Do you mind, if I snuggle her up for a bit longer before putting her down? " oh, no problem it's fine. He responded.
