Chapter 28After Ueno dropped her off from the coffee shop at her father’s home, or her home, or whatever it was now, she opened the door, putting aside the memory of the last time she entered. This time, Jamie knew there were going to be detectives there. But when she stepped in to the genkan, she could not see or hear any sign of them. She pushed the front door closed, but left it open a c***k, in case she needed to bolt, and stepped up onto the floor, walking slowly, peering into the living room. Nothing.
