For Raven, she faces an external conflict from being taken from her home and placed into the Celestial Guard. She also faces two internal conflicts: the first one is her resistance to her new power and the instincts that come along with them. The second is how her understanding of the Celestial Guard changes.
For Kaitlynn, she faces an external conflict. She is forced to become Queen and must now protect her people. She faces more internal conflict, however. She now has to open herself up to the fact that she lost her family. She also faces a conflict when she meets Raven and her heart wants to trust the new girl, but her head says not to. She continues to face turmoil when she her nightmares get worse and that causes an external conflict because it exposes her lack of control with her abilities. She also faces a change in her views about the sickness when she finds out the Celestials are suffering far more than they are.
