CHAPTER 6 – OSBI AT THE SCENE

WITHIN THE HOUR, ORCHIDS Street witnessed more activity than in a year. The OSBI agents came in two cars, and the medical examiner arrived in the county morgue truck. Another car brought the forensic experts Kenneth despised so much.
His hands clenched in tight fists on his hips, Ken stood by the opulent staircase in front of the Carters’ house. He didn’t move a muscle, but his eyes surveyed everything.
His mind had been in constant turmoil since Henderson refused to help with the collection of the evidence, and Gus insisted that the deputy remained at the scene. Gus didn’t seem to trust Kenneth not to spoil the evidence.
Kenneth hadn’t seen the deputy since he left the kitchen, though, and he hoped that Chris had gone back to the station.
