The cab dropped Johnny Liddell in front of an old brownstone house in what appeared to be a strictly residential section of Brooklyn. There was no indication of a restaurant other than the oversized garbage can out front. Liddell tossed the cabby a bill, walked to the basement door, rang the bell next to the iron grillwork of the door. After a moment, the inside wooden door opened, silhouetting a huge woman who waddled slowly to the entrance. “Is Mr. Liddell.” She smiled her welcome. “Come in, come in. Is long time since you pay Luigi and Seraphine a visit.” Liddell walked past her into the dining-room.
