The girls walk to school as they always do. They talk about lots of things on their way, stuff they did last night, what they plan on doing this afternoon and just about anything they could think of. Usually by the time they had both talked each others' ears off they were at school.
They arrived outside of school and looked at each other. Bee stopped and sighed "we can do this! It's one more day closer to the end!" Lottie cheered whilst grabbing ahold of Bee's hand. She dragged her reluctant best friend into school and they began their day.
Lottie's first class was English, She wasn't very good at writing up stories or doing essays. She could do a better job at verbally telling stories, she always seemed to draw people in with her storytelling. People got so immersed that they believed every word. Lottie didn't know where half her stories came from, it was just like they were just already in her head. Whilst she was thinking about one of her many stories, she was just staring off into the distance. She didn't notice the strange figure in the window watching her every move.
Just when Lottie was about to get to the end of her story the bell went. She gathered her stuff and rushed out as quickly as she could, glad that the first class was over. Bee was waiting for her outside the door as always. She always snuck out of class early to grab the good food from the school's cafe.
Both girls rush off to their spot for recess. They arrive at a large Oak tree, if you walked to the other side you'd find ti was hollowed out and was just big enough for two teenage girls to sit in. The girls found this spot in their first week of school. They had to get rid of all the bugs and tidy it up before either of them even thought about sitting in it.
The Oaktree became their safe space, a place they could get away from all the other students. Bee laid out her bounty, "Today our feast contains an apple pie, a brownie, sushi, and two cokes! Everyone, enjoy!" She announced. Lottie smiled and picked up the brownie, she noticed a figure off in the distance watching them.
She turns to Bee and motions to the direction she saw the figure. Bee's eyebrows furrowed as she looked in the direction, "What am I supposed to be looking at?"
Confused Lottie looks where the figure just was "Oh, uh nothing I guess." She takes a bite of the brownie and once again notices the figure.
"Hey... Uh, Bee, I'm going to be right back," Lottie stands and hands the brownie to her "I just need to check something."
Bee shrugs and starts to eat her apple pie. Lottie starts off in the direction the figure was, they seemed to disappear and appear every now and again, as though it was trying to confuse her. Lottie was getting closer now and started to walk slower, her heart started to beat faster and faster with each step. She stood as far as she could away from the figure, but still close enough that her voice could be heard " Who are you? What do you want?" She questioned the mysterious person.
Lottie took one more step closer "I'm talking to you!" She said as sternly as she could with how scared she was. Before she could ask her questions again, she felt a hand grab her. Lottie did what any normal person would do.
She screamed.
