Chapter Nine Sunday March 11, 2018 When I was a young boy, someone asked me, “What’s your favourite colour?” It might have been my mother or my father, or a teacher, but I’m not certain who asked me first. The first time anyone asks you that, it’s an amazing question, because awareness of colour is so innate to children, from even before the time that they learn to speak. Once you’ve reached the age where you’ve learned to speak, you’ve already seen too many colours. I’m studying art in college, and our teacher told us that humans are capable of perceiving over twelve million different colours. That’s a lot. My response to the question was infallibly blue.
