Episode 10: The Storm Between Us

700 Words
The rain hadn’t stopped since morning. It lashed against the mansion's tall windows like a warning from the heavens, the gray skies casting a somber hue over everything. But the storm outside was nothing compared to the hurricane unraveling within Serah’s chest. She stood in the middle of Kael’s study—his sanctuary—surrounded by the scent of leather-bound books and the quiet tick of an antique clock. But she wasn’t quiet. Not this time. "You let them into my home, Kael!" Her voice cracked, sharp and trembling. "You let your family interrogate me like I was a threat." Kael, drenched from the downpour, ran his hand through his soaked hair. His usually composed face was tight with restraint. “I didn’t invite them. They came on their own.” "Don't lie to me!" she snapped, eyes glistening with more than just rage. “Your mother looked at me like I was some street girl trying to trap you with this baby!” “Serah—” “Do you even want this child?” Her voice dropped, raw and trembling. “Or am I just some complication in your perfectly controlled world?” Kael's jaw clenched. Thunder rolled in the distance. He stepped closer, slow and sure, like a predator closing in. “Don’t you dare question how much I want you,” he growled. “You think I care about what they say? About their expectations? You’re carrying my child. That alone makes you the most important thing in my life.” His hands were on her face before she could flinch, thumbs brushing her cheeks with surprising gentleness. “I’ve broken rules for you, Serah. I’ve gone against the family that built my legacy. You want me to scream how much I want this? Fine.” He backed her against the wall, his breath hot, his presence overwhelming. “I want it all. You. The baby. Every messy, terrifying part of it.” Serah’s breath caught as the anger gave way to something deeper. Her heart thundered, not from rage—but from the undeniable pull of him. The honesty in his voice, the desperation in his eyes. “I’m scared, Kael,” she whispered. “What if we’re not enough?” “You don’t have to be enough alone,” he said, leaning in until their foreheads touched. “We’ll be enough together.” The kiss that followed was not gentle. It was frantic, desperate—a collision of fears and feelings too long held back. She pulled at his shirt, tearing buttons as if removing the last barrier between them. He groaned into her mouth, lifting her like she weighed nothing, carrying her to the couch as thunder crashed outside. Their clothes scattered like fallen leaves, forgotten in the heat of their touch. There was no hesitation now. No pretending they could be anything other than what they were—two people trying to love fiercely in a world that wanted to tear them apart. Every kiss was a promise. Every touch was a rebellion. Serah arched beneath him, clinging to the man who had shattered her peace only to become her safest place. Kael worshipped her body like a man desperate to leave behind all the cold, calculated years before her. She tasted like home, like truth, like something he could never let go of. “I need you,” he breathed against her skin. “You have me,” she replied, her fingers tangled in his hair. And when they came together, it was more than passion. It was a declaration. They were no longer just Kael and Serah. They were something more now—entangled in love, responsibility, and defiance. Bound by a child they hadn’t planned for but already loved. As they lay there after, bodies intertwined and hearts open, Serah placed his hand on her stomach. “You’ll protect us?” she asked. Kael kissed her temple, the softest vow on his lips. “With everything I am.” Outside, the rain began to slow, as if the storm had passed—for now. But they both knew this was just the eye.
