Chapter 9: Thank You.

After a moment, Blue glanced at all three of them. Her eyes moved from Noah to Xavier and then briefly to Sky. “By the way…” “Why do you all look like you’re very tired?” Her tone was calm, but there was genuine curiosity in her voice as she also want to change the topic. The restaurant was warm and bright, the soft yellow lights reflecting gently off the polished wooden tables. Outside the glass windows, the night had grown darker, and a light mist floated through the quiet streets. At the table, the atmosphere was calm but slightly awkward. Blue had just finished asking why they all looked so tired. Xavier leaned back slightly in his chair and stretched his shoulders. “We were searching for you since the morning,” he said. “Before the sun even rose.” Blue paused. Then she smiled softly. She slowly placed her chopsticks down on the table and leaned comfortably against the back of her chair. “Who else was searching for me?” she asked casually. Xavier answered without thinking much. “All three of us… and the guards.” Blue’s brows furrowed slightly. For a brief moment, something flashed in her eyes. She knew very clearly that this body had three biological brothers. There were also many cousins in the family. But none of them had searched for her. Not even once. A quiet chuckle escaped her lips. “Thank you,” she said. Her voice was sincere as she looked at Xavier and Noah. Then her gaze shifted to Sky. “Thank you for coming when I called you.” Her smile this time was genuine. For the first time since coming into this body, she realized something— At least someone cared enough to come when she asked. Sky looked at her silently. His expression didn’t change. But his eyes darkened slightly. After a moment he asked, “Why were you at the bus stop?” Blue answered calmly. “I missed the bus.” Noah frowned slightly. “Why didn’t you call your brothers?” Blue turned her head toward him. Her expression was calm. “I’m not close to my brothers.” Xavier blinked. “Really? I heard your brother talking about his sister recently.” Blue didn’t look surprised. Instead she calmly said, “They must be talking about Clara.” Clara. The adopted daughter of the Evans family. Blue’s gaze remained steady. “They were probably talking about her.” The table fell quiet. All three men looked at her with strange expressions. Blue noticed their stares. But instead of feeling awkward— She simply smiled. “I’m not sad.” Her tone was light and relaxed. Then she gestured toward the food. “Eat.” “Otherwise the food will get cold.” The conversation ended there. They continued eating. But throughout the meal— Noah, Xavier, and even Sky occasionally glanced at Blue. Every time Blue noticed their gazes— She simply smiled. Soon dinner ended. Everyone returned to their rooms for the night.
