I felt pain coursing through my body, my mind trapped in a haze. I knew I should move, but I couldn't. The attackers were closing in, and Martin was nowhere near us.
"Can you get up?" I asked Luis, watching him struggle to his feet.
"I can't shift, Alpha. I think we've been poisoned," Luis said, and dread settled over me. Who would have poisoned us? We had just returned from a territorial meeting. How did the poison get to us? Martin wanted to ease himself, so we had to park the car. We were close to Rain Pack territory, so I hadn't given it much thought until my legs gave out, leaving me paralysed. The howls and growls of wolves filled the air, but I couldn't move. I hoped some guards would patrol nearby and come to our aid.
"We have to try," I urged Luis.
