GoldenI woke up knowing in my bones that the sun was still up. The last time that had happened, I had still been going through the transition, waiting to take my first life’s blood.
Despite my day room being underground with no electrical lights, the soft glow from my body illuminated the ceiling over my head. That glow had to be the reason I woke up too early. There was no other explanation.
During the day, vampires entered a state somewhere between sleep and death. Nothing should’ve been able to wake me up until sunset.
I got out of bed and tried to pull the surrounding shadows, but, of course, it didn’t work. I needed something to dampen the glow.
