I picked up the burger, took a big bite, started to chew, Kat was just staring at me with an eye brow raised and clicking her nails on the table waiting for me to start spilling my story. I could almost see her Tigress twitching it's tail in anticipation, setting my burger down, I started with, got off the bus, saw the neon lights and you know the rest. "Bull s**t!" Kat's eyes narrowed, "I know it's more than that by your red eyes and tear stained cheeks, my bet is man problems, so go on spill the deets girl."before I could even decide on what should I tell her, a shadow fell over the table. "Kat, I don't pay you to sit and gossip on the job, there are two tables waiting on their drinks," the shifter from behind the bar was standing at the table looking down at Kat with a smirk. "Oh Luc, don't get your tail in a twist," Kat stood up, looked over at me, "don't think you are off the hook on the storytelling girl I'm coming right back!" She sauntered off to the bar to grab the drinks. The shifter from behind the bar smiled down at me " names Lucas, but everyone just calls me Luc, welcome to my club, I see you already made friends with Kat, she's a good listener, but also a great gossip." He sat down across from me and stared at me with his golden eyes, "so am I just supposed to guess your name?" "Do you always go out of your way to greet new customers or is there something special about me?" Smirking, I picked up my burger and took a small bite, keeping my eyes down not wanting his golden eyes to stare into my soul and ferret out all of my secrets. "Don't flatter yourself princess, Its called basic decency and good customer service, you don't want to tell me your name fine, I'll just call you princess smart ass, have a nice night." Luc got out of his seat and sauntered back behind the bar. Hearing a sassy sounding laugh I look up to see Kat slipping into the seat across from me. “Something has gotten Luc’s tail in a twist, he never has had a she wolf who wasn’t panting after him, you girl are a whole new breed to him.” I stare at her with exasperation, “I’m not looking for anything tonight but a burger, a beer and a place to sleep, he can keep his twisted tail away from me, I have enough problems in my life!” Kat looks me up and down and smiles, “well I know your a wolf and I’m a cat and we are technically not supposed to get along and all that, but I like you.” “I have an extra room in my apartment you can sleep in tonight, but if your going to stay for awhile we’ll have to talk about rent girl.” My wolf perked her ears forward, sniffed, “I guess I can tolerate a cat, after all you aren’t likely going to let me out to sleep in the woods are you?” Ignoring the internal ranting of my wolf, I looked back to the bar, Luc’s golden eyes we’re watching my every move he smirked at me then with a growly voice yelled”last call, you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here” then he winked at me. Sighing, I smiled at Kat”thanks girl, I’m not sure how long I’ll be in town, but I really don’t want to sleep in the woods” Kat shuddered “ugh girl, with all the creepy crawlers and dirt no way you are definitely coming home with me!”My nose scrunches up in disgust at the thought of bugs, “Thanks, the name is Laney by the way, I can also kick in some rent money, but I’ll need a job sooner or later.” Kat gives me a wink than walks off towards the bar, leans over it and calls out “Hey Luc, Laney here is going to stay with me for a bit, but she needs a job, interested in giving her one?” Luc’s eyebrows raise, and his golden eyes swing back over to me with a surprised glint, he pursed his sexy lips for a minute, rubbing his lightly stubbles chin in thought. “Laney, sexy name, yeah alright, be here tomorrow at four pm and we will see how you work out, oh and wear something sexy.”
