Rhaenyra’s POV Weeks had passed and it was finally time. Instead of being woken up by the cheering of people for a new age, I was woken up by the akiac sound of incantations. The night got colder and darker. Quite an ominous and bitter taste as my eyes twitch, remembering the foretelling of my death. An excruciating, long death right after I had broken every bone of my body over and over again until it didn't hurt. The tears lingered in my eyes, knowing this fate couldn't be changed. I stood right in the middle, my eyes fixed on the moon watching it display its beauty boldly. “ Im unstoppable” “ I'm invisible” I recited the history of Lunaris in my head. “ Lunaris is a kingdom that draws its power from the moon and that's why the wolves could only turn during the full moon. The kingdom has humans amongst them, as they are those that aren't blessed with the moon curse. Instead, they live freely as the slaves, prostitutes and laborers of the werewolves. The leadership system of Lunaris was broken into 4: the central, the North, the south and the East-West. Under this then we have other titles that are just figureheads. Aside from the four royal males, there were 10 princesses, including me, but now they were all dead. My mom was the youngest queen in the whole nation as she was human.” I was brought back to reality when the women yelled, “ It's time.” They all said together in a loud voice, “ The time has come. “ I looked at the moon with keen eyes, it was at its apex, looking so innocent and pure but giving power to something so outrageous. I noticed women who were thrice my age but hadn't aged a day older than 30. That's the blessing of the moon. I could perceive the amount of souls they had drained that kept on draining them. Their clothes tore, the cracking sounds of the body into a beastized nature filled the air as the animals fled. Their groans echoed in the trees as I watched in horror. They all stood mighty gazing at me weirdly, judging me with every flutter their eyelids made. The witches became louder, the power in the air got stronger, the sky became dark and dangerous. One stepped up to me and muttered, “ Kill me.” Their voices echoed in my head to kill her.. I didn't want to kill her. As soon as I laid my eyes on her, I could see her life with her children and husband and even her coven. I mumbled, “ No.” They snickered in disdain. “ Of course, I knew she couldn't do it.” “ She's an abomination that deserves to die.” “ We should just kill her tonight.” “ She was meant to die earlier.” I was in a dilemma trying to decipher what was wrong or right or what would be the next action. My conscience would be dead if I ever killed a harmless woman forced into doing this. But a soft, well-spoken voice penetrated my mind and assured me, “ Kill me as I do love on and this is the first step to becoming who you truly are, sister.” I wept. It's been a long time since I had this feeling I was chosen. Situations that I came across made my heart frozen. I have fought battles that no one seemed to notice. You can laugh at me and talk me down, but it doesn't hurt anymore. The voice in my head told me that I'm a soldier. Then I remembered the time my mama named me Rhaenyra. I closed my eyes, turned off my humanity as I ripped out her pulsating, living hand out of her chest without remorse. I found peace in my true nature. I chomped at the raw meat before showing my blood fangs right at them as they moved in fear or disgust. I could feel the unusual build-up of energy within me as my heart beat accelerated, my skin itches, and my eyes twitched uncontrollably. It was starting. “ Ahhhhh” My bones were shifting, rearranging themselves as my limbs elongated, jointed, cracking noisily and painfully. I groaned, trying to fight and resist. Their eyes were right on me, the tension increased, and the pressure was as at sea level. I tried pushing myself, but I had already given up as I laid on the ground breathing heavily. Everything had stopped, the night returned to its usual boring job. There was no more cheering as my suicide ended by itself. I felt miserable and useless. I tried to cheer myself on, but it just didn't feel the same, it would have probably felt better if I had a mother to guide me, not shrewd old women that didn't care about me at all. Why were the people I most cared about when I needed them? Where was Zephyr with all his promises about marriage? Where was Luca and his affirmations of knowing me the best? Where was Axel and his warm touch? They all abandoned me. I was alone. I could hear my voice echoing. The ground started vibrating as they matched towards me and picked me up and yelled, “ Turn or you die.” “ I'm trying. I can't. Please,” I pleaded weakly, hoping they would leave, but they threw me aside. My head hit a tree and blood started pouring out. “ Pain will help you,” one of the men said menacingly. The witches let out a shriek as their iris became white, and they spoke in a different language. “Hi chazra” “Chazra l'maanenu v'hi tishteh et damihem” “Ha'tsaydit ha'chazakah be'yoter b'chol ha'zmanim, anu m'barechim otach u'm'kablim otach” My back shot back, my eyes turned silver, the fangs elongated and my mouth ajar, taking the true shape of the beast as I let out a growl. I lunged at one of them, I ripped off her neck fully, blood splattered all over my fur.
