Slowly, Kara felt as if the darkness around her was beginning to fade. No longer was she floating in a void without shape or mass. There was no longer silence as her companion. Instead, there was a faint beeping that sounded every couple of second. The rhythm steady and paced evenly so that it was easy to mark time by. Slowly, Kara became aware of other sounds around her. Muted footsteps that tapped against the floor before slowly fading. A small buzzing sound from a light fixture nearby that hummed softly under the muted whispers that seemed to play on the air about her.
