Past Indiscretions

Sitting behind his desk, Kylen found himself carefully studying the woman across from him. There was no doubt that she was in some way related to Kara. Their similarities were too much alike to deny it. Still, something about this did not sit well with him. After all, if her mother was alive, how and why had Kara been left in the care of the Martins for this long? If the Luna cared for her daughter as she claimed, why was it that Kara had been left to suffer at the hands of this family for so long? Still, there could be no denial of the almost defeated set of the woman's shoulders as she sat before him. Despite his introduction, she had yet to say a single word. Instead she just sat in silence, staring at him blankly as if trying to decide whether or not to take her chances otherwise.
