Holly lay with her eyes closed, cold and hurt. She didn't attempt to move until she heard him move toward the door. Only then did she rise up on an elbow and look after him. He was standing in the shadows, wiping his hands on a towel. Their eyes met; guarded, like one eyes a stranger, alone after dark. He looked sane once again, back in control. His eyes traveled along her body once more. She couldn’t have felt more broken. “Turn over again, let’s have a last look at you,” he spoke softly. Holly obeyed immediately. She got over on one elbow and carefully dropped her feet to the floor, laying across the seat, bum in the air. I know the position, now, she thought.
