8: The Date

1956 Words
Noah’s POV I was driving through town, heading toward Maria’s place, when I saw her. There was Maria at Joe’s Gas Station; and there was Chad Greene. Instantly I became jealous, as I pulled into the station. Maria hadn’t noticed me yet. Probably because Chad was working his charm on her. I walked up slowly without them noticing. I wanted to find out if she was into him or not before I interrupted. I hope she turns him down. I know that sounds selfish, but I’m drawn to this young lady in a way I can’t explain. It seems almost overpowering. I’m within hearing distance when I hear him ask Maria for her name. I hold my breath, waiting for her response. She tells him it’s none of his concern and tries to leave, but Chad stops her. That’s when I step in. I knew I wouldn’t have any trouble with Chad. He’s full of himself but he’s not a troublemaker. As soon as he leaves. I turn back to Maria to apologize but she stops me by wrapping herself tightly around me. I lean down to her head and breathe in. I don’t know what this perfume is, but I love it. It’s coconut. This is my favorite scent. I’m not sure why, but as long as I can remember it’s made me happy. It was strange though. When I asked her about the perfume, she seemed puzzled to begin with. Oh well, it doesn’t t matter anyway because she came to see me! She likes me even. I’m not sure why, given how she looks and the men I saw where she lives. I’m nothing compared to them. I take her to Diane’s Diner down the road. They fix the best steaks and have a variety of desserts to choose from. We park side by side and walk into the diner together. Maria presses our hands together and threads her fingers through mine, as we walk in. I’m so happy, I’m almost afraid to breathe. When she touches me, it’s strange, but in a good way. Almost like shocks each time. I love it. It makes me feel good. I shake my head trying to clear my mind. I start thinking about kissing her and how her mouth will taste. I want to hold her close and feel her body next to mine. This is so unlike me. She’s gonna think I’m just a punk if I don’t cool it down. We sit down at a booth by a large window and pick up our menus. I already know what I want though. Rare steak, baked potato, extra rolls, sweet tea and salad to start. The waitress that comes to take our order is new, I don’t recognize her. I let Maria order first. “I would like a sweet tea, rare steak, baked potato and extra rolls please!” Maria puts in her order. I just smile, I mean, she’s got good taste. I place my order and we begin talking. “Noah did you copy my order?” Maria jokes with me. “Not at all. This is what I always order when I come to eat here” I answer her. She raises an eyebrow, but just shrugs it off. “Have you always wanted to be a plumber?” She asks as the waitress brings us our drinks and salad. “Actually, I was going to go to school to become a teacher. I love kids and I’ve always helped out with tutoring when I was younger.” She smiles and her eyes are shining with so much joy. I could sit and stare at her all day. “Why didn’t you go to school to become a teacher then?” she asks as she sips on her tea. I feel sad for a minute, thinking about why I had to leave school. Maria notices and automatically tell me I don’t have to share if I’m not ready to, I want to though. In fact I want her to meet my parents, because I believe Maria is the one for me. I want to marry her one day. “It’s fine. I was enrolled in school, but my dad became sick that year and I came back home to help my parents. My dad had been helping me some until this past summer. An infection weakened him and he hasn’t been able to get out since.” She looks at me, sadly. It’s almost as if she feels the sadness in me. Maria reaches over and takes my hands in hers. “Noah. I don’t know what to say. I hate your dad is sick. I hate how much it hurts you, but I love how you’re willing to take care of your family. It shows how much love you hold in your heart. That’s one of the things that makes you so beautiful.” I don’t know what it was. My emotional state or what Maria said to me, but suddenly I’m leaning in to kiss her and she coming to meet me half way. Right before I reach her, the waitress brings our food out and we both pull back quickly. Maria wastes no time scarfing down her food. She said it was one of the best steaks she had ever eaten. I was pleased she liked it. This diner is one of my favorite places to be. I’ve been going here since I was a child. Used to come with my grandpa when he was alive. “Would you like some dessert?” I asked. “YES! I love sweets!” Maria beams. I chuckle. “How about we share a banana split?” She blushes slightly and eagerly nod her head. It doesn’t take long for the waitress to bring us our treat and we dig in. We take turns feeding one another. I’ve never felt so comfortable and attracted to anyone in my life. It feels as though I’m supposed to be this close to her. But yet it’s not enough. I take my finger and wipe some ice cream from around her mouth and lick it off my finger. Then suddenly her eyes go dark. I mean pitch black kind of dark. It startled me at first, but yet I’m drawn even more to her. She blinks and her eyes are back to normal. “Noah, can we go somewhere private for a few minutes?” she asks. “Yes. I’ll pay the bill and I know where a small park is for walking.” She nods and stated that she’ll leave the tip. I noticed she left almost as much as the cost of food. We walk out hand in hand again and she tells me she’ll follow me in her car. I jump in my truck and take off down the road. The park is only about 10 minutes away. It had a small pond and a huge walking trail, with benches spaced out all over. There are many private areas as well. We park our vehicles and I open her door to help her out. She takes my hand and we walk around the pond a little and find a secluded bench to sit on. The breeze is blowing lightly and the sun will be setting soon. I look over at Maria and notice her take in a deep breath. “Noah. I’m going to get to the point here. I like you a lot, and I want us to date exclusively. I’m not sure how you feel about me, but I can guarantee that your are the man I will marry one day. I will not be searching for anyone else. However, when the time comes, there are things you need to know about myself. First though, I want you to trust me fully before that.” I frown, confused. What does she mean? All my questions go out the door though when she leans in and kisses me. I cradle her face in my hands and kiss her back. She pulls away and whispers , “so what do you say?” Maria POV I can’t believe I just kissed him! It was a soft, quick, yet electrical kiss. I had to do something though, well, it was Sasha’s idea. He looked like he was about to ask some questions that I can’t answer for him right now. I might be moving a bit fast for him, but I’m moving slow for a wolf. Still, with that kiss, both Sasha and I are content right now. I almost lost control for a minute at the diner when he wiped some ice cream off of me and licked it off his finger. I know he saw Sasha surface. It caught us both off guard and I wanted more. I wanted to jump across that table and claim his mouth. Run my hands through his hair and down his back. I wanted to throw his shirt off and lick him from his chest to abdomen, and then I wanted to unbutton his pants and free his.. I shook it off though, but it’s also why I asked to go somewhere private. I was in hopes of talking to him and getting a bit closer. Sasha is purring in my head right now. Content with the lustful look on Noah’s face right now after we kissed him. “So what do you say?” I whisper. “Say to what?” Noah asks lazily. He definitely feels the bond. It’s kind of funny. It’s almost as if he’s buzzed. So I repeat. “Do you want to date me? Exclusively?” Noah straightens up and looks as though he’s won the lottery. “YES!! It may sound strange, but I already feel connected to you. I really can’t explain it. Maybe it’s like love at first sight, because I just know you’re the one for me.” Noah confesses to me. He then looks down and just stared for a moment at the small pond in front of us. “What’s wrong Noah?” He takes a minute before answering. “Maria. I couldn’t help but notice that the other guys in your community are not like me. They are huge. I’m not even 6 foot and highly doubt I could take any of those me on. What is it you see in me? I mean you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on. You’re way out of my league.” It broke my heart hearing him tell me that. Of course he’s good enough for me. He is my other half. I don’t know how to tell him that though. He was literally made for me. I take his hands, “Noah. You are meant for me. You may not believe it yet, but you are mine and I am yours.” Noah smiles and moves in closely. One of his hands reaches up to caress my cheek and he leans into kiss me again. It gets a bit more heated this time. His hands roam down my shoulders and arms, snaking around my back. I lean into him bringing my hands to the bottom of his shirt and sneaking them underneath. His skin is so soft. I can feel that he is toned without looking like a body builder. That’s how I like a man to look. I know my kind can’t hardly help looking a certain way. Between the training and shifting, we burn many calories. I get brave and begin to shove my hands down to his bum when someone ruins the moment. “We’ll, well. What do you think you’re doing with my fiancé?”
