chapter 5

I don't know what happened, why he didn't kill me. One thing is for sure, now I knew why history says he was a cruel ruler, why people feared him so much. He was a bloody vampire. I walked around the room, impatient, not knowing what to do. I felt stripped of all my senses, useless. I'm suppose to be a werewolf but why can't I feel a bloody vampire's presence? What is happening with me? The Moon Goddess said I must become strong. But what did she mean by that? It was getting dark and cold outside. I looked around the room and finally found some matches on the window sill. I lit the candles and head back to the window to close it. I couldn't see much outside but the forest. A pine forest as far as the eye can see. Someone knocks on the door and suddenly the girl who came earlier enters the room. She had a wool sweater and some thick socks in her hand, which she put on the bed, wanting to leave without saying a word. "Wait! Where am I? Talk to me please!" "l'm sorry but the master won't let me talk to you. if I don't listen, he will kill me. Please stay in the room and don't go out if you want to live." "OK."...I answered sternly when I saw that I didn't get any answers from her. I didn't want to force her. I put on the sweater, and the socks she brought for me and went to bed, not wanting to stress myself for what happened earlier. If he wanted to kill me he could have killed me right there and then. But he didn't. That means I'm safe for a while. A loud noise woke me up. It was still dark outside but I could clearly hear people screaming and some wolves were hauling as if they were in pain. I tried to look on the window but there was nothing I could see. Something inside me was telling me to run outside, to check what's happening. As if all my senses had returned, I didn't think twice and I opened the door and rushed on the stairs to get outside as quick as I could. Everything was deserted inside, no humans at all. Was I the only one living in this place? I pushed aside my thoughts and listened where the noises were coming from. I passed by some doors and eventually I found the main one. My pulse started to raise as I realized the danger I was in. I pushed open the door and rushed outside. There were two women lying motionless on the floor, four men were trying to pull them away from there while trying to defend themselves with some shovels. By their look they were peasants. On the other end of the yard were two wolves growling as if they were ready to attack. I jumped, frightened, trying to help the poor humans. They were screaming, one of them managed to lit some torches to try to frighten the wolves. But they weren't scared. One of them was huge with a big scar on his right side of the skull, the other one appeared to be younger but he was more muscular. Both of them were terrifying. I managed to get near the humans, when they spotted me. "Here.. Try to scare them with the firel"... Shouted one of the men while handing me a torch. "Stay behind us!"... shouted another one while making loud noises and waving the shovel towards them. The wolves weren't scared. They had their focus on me now. I could feel their piercing eyes. The youngest one took few steps towards me and the humans backed up, terrified. It was just me and the wolf now. The other one was moving back and forth, growling at humans. I don't know why but anger was building inside me, for everything that happened to me, that happened to humanity, guilt for not doing anything, pain, all those feelings were igniting something inside me, something I have never felt before. I could see flashes of the near past, where the wolves attached the women. The anger was unbearable. The wolf plunged forward to attack me but before he could reach at me, I raised my hands into the air, shouting "Stop!", flows of energy pouring out of me. They both fell on the ground not being able to move an inch. They were twitching under my gaze. I wasn't scared of them anymore. I walked towards them, inferring them to stand. All this time they were growling at me. The older one tried to attack me this time but the next second he collapsed on the ground in pain. The other one was looking when towards me, when towards the other wolf, stepping backward in the same time. I just stared at them while they both stepped backwards towards the forest, with their gaze low until they vanished into the dark. I collapsed, the cold gripping me suddenly. It was silent all of the sudden, I wondered where those humans went, we're they safe now? What happened with the women?. The wolves were gone and I felt drained. I wanted to get back to sleep but I felt too powerless to move. With my last strength I stood up and turned around to go back inside. I felt horrified when I saw Viktor walking towards me. I thought that was my end. I didn't have any strength left to fight him. But instead of fighting me, he picked me in his arms and carried me into his room. I felt somewhat safe in his embrace. I know I shouldn't. I put my hands around his neck, my head resting on his chest. He smelled pleasant. It wasn't that repulsive smell all vampires had. I inhaled deeply, yes...it was roses scent. So shooting... my eyelids were so heavy while inhaling the mesmerizing roses scent. Everything went black before my eyes and the next second I fell asleep.
