The sun blared through the window and Tate groaned. My head is now on his right leg and I am huddled into the corner of the bed without a blanket as he is belly down grumbling about waking up. I went to move and immediately felt stiff. I wonder if normal wolves struggle with sleeping wrong. The thought was interrupted by the realization that today was the day we would leave Crescent Rain. I slid up the bed and grabbed the pillow from under Tate and cuddle it. "Mine" is all I muttered before I was pushed off the side of the bed.
"You don't disturb my beauty sleep Tess," he waved his hand at the pillow I took with me on the way down as if insisting I give in back. I raised a brow and snuggled into the pillow and he just rolled his eyes and laid back down without it. I decided to stay put and doze until my alarm went off, but that was short lived. Tate huffed and threw the blanket off of the bed and on top of me and began to dig for clothes. I followed suit and not 20 minutes later we received a link that it was time to go. All of our boxes fit in the back of Tate's grey truck, formerly his dads, and I followed behind in the beat up little Taurus I bought at the annual pack auction. We all lined up and parked before presenting ourselves with the rest of the trades to the Alpha.
Alpha Ryan only had a black tank on today and it showed off everything. "YUM". Wait, was that me? That wasn't me. "Mate!" the voice spoke again much louder as the breeze picked up. "Hi," I say internally and she goes silent. Jeez. I'm losing my mind. As I continued my mental battle with myself Alpha Ryan called everyone into a straight line formation as if we were soldiers. I guess thats what he bargained for anyway. Sure he got a beta's daughter in his trade, but this beta blooded female can't shift and I'm assuming this detail was omitted. Tate and I stood shoulder and shoulder with roughly 20 others as Alpha Ryan walked past us and analyzed his new pack members. He didn't even bother to glance at me as he walked by and I was sure that I heard a whine in my head. "You know, if I knew how to talk with you he would be a lot more likely to respond to us?" I could feel excitement that wasn't my own. I thought about who I might be able to ask for help learning how to communicate with a wolf this late in the game but I had never seen someone get their wolf this late in life and i wouldn't even know where to begin. "I am Tess, your human, What is your name?"
Again silence in my head. That was until I realized that everyone was returning to their vehicles and I had remained standing in the lot looking like a fool in front of my mate yet again. Tate mind linked me asking if I was okay and which radio station we were syncing up for the ride as I got into my car. This was going to be a long Drive. Alpha Ryan gave me a stern look before he turned to lead the convoy of werewolves on the half-a-days journey to Clear Mountain.
