'Dream' Aadhya's Concern

1934 Words
Chewing my nails had become a very bad habit of mine whenever I'm confused for these two days. What I heard back there disturbed me. Wandering around in the verandah of the children's home, my heart was bringing up all the possibilities of defending Veer and his actions. My mind kept giving me warning signals, but my heart wasn't ready to pay any heed to it. I couldn't understand what he was trying to do, but then, how come I'd trust him easily and let him play with my memories. After seeing those dreams, I knew that I'd forgotten things that might have been very important for me to know. And even if they weren't that important, still, I had the right to know what they were. Only in that way, I can understand who I was. Not seeing where I was heading to, I suddenly collided with a strong chest and lost my balance and, as a reaction, I instantly closed my eyes. Ready to hit the ground! My Subconscious mind screamed. But then, swiftly, two arms sneaked around my waist, holding me. I should have known that this was going to happen. But it wasn't Veer, the touch wasn't his. You are so aware of his touch, my unconscious mind taunted. I opened my one eye to see a man showing me all of his thirty-two pearly white teeth. When I tried to wriggle out of his grip, but he didn't let me, instead he started chatting with me in that same position. Looking into his eyes, I could say that he knew me for a long time. "Long time no see, pretty lady!" He said and I blinked my eyes in response with a bemused face. "And see what's happening, you are in my arms instead of your sister." "What?" This was all I could say, staying in his arms. "Well, having you here is not that bad." He winked. Whatever he was saying, I couldn't register a single word inside my mind. How could I? When there were two more people standing in front, one a bit surprised and another silently burning in jealousy. "Siddharth!" Maya called him out. Oh, so his name was Siddharth. Who was he to her? The mischievous smile suddenly turned into an adorable one, as he saw Maya standing a few steps away. After making me stand properly, he again flashed his toothy grin again and walked towards Maya. Suddenly, I felt Veer standing besides me, sliding his arms around my waist. It took me a single glimpse of his face, and I could say how much he disliked me being in Siddharth's arms. No matter how much I felt giddy and somewhat happy seeing him like this and being held in his protective arms, I stepped away. I kept repeating to myself that he was a liar, I needed to gear up my guard against him. He raised his eyebrows in confusion, but I just smiled at him. Your heart doesn't seem to accept that he isn't someone not honest to you, my subconscious mind informed me. But he is being dishonest, and I know that. "Veer, for how many days was I in a coma?" I asked him. "Two days." He instantly replied, but I didn't know if he was saying the truth, or lying to me, which seemed to have become a habit of him for last two days. Maya and Siddharth went inside together, hand in hand. He whispered something in her ears, making her blush. Was he her boyfriend? Husband? I tried to think hard and recall something. The one thing he said caught my attention. He addressed me as Maya's sister, even Maya had said that in a flow. But, Veer told me that I was an orphan, I had no family. That means he lied to me again. This realization left me speechless. From the time I'd woken up from a coma, he'd said only two things to me, half truths or complete lies. And the things I was seeing in the dreams, I couldn't even say how creepy they felt to me. I suddenly felt dizzy because of all the things running in my mind and, without any balance, I leaned onto Veer. He caught me and looked worried. His handsome yet concerned face was all I could see before closing my eyes. *_*_* DREAM Aadhya was pacing back and forth for the last half an hour, waiting for him to arrive. Her patience was running thin and he wasn't still there. She never liked his idea of meeting somewhere outside the city, since he was in a grave danger and over the top, he himself was unaware of it and she wasn't able to explain this to him. Aadhya was literally in the middle of nowhere. She was worried sick, waiting in the bedroom of one of his farmhouses and there was no human settlement for nearly two kilometers in the surroundings. Suddenly, her phone went off and she glanced at the screen. Relief filled in her heart when she saw the name of the caller. Veer. She instantly slid the green icon to receive the call. "Aadhya?" Veer's deep voice buzzed through her ears. "Are you okay?" This was the only thing she wanted to know first. "Yeah, I'm okay. I'm sorry I had some important meetings rescheduled suddenly. I'm just leaving for the farmhouse now." Veer informed her. "No, you won't come. Tell me where you are, I'll come there. I have to tell you something very important. Hurry up and okay, let's meet in the cafe we met the first time." Aadhya hastily replied, jogging out to leave. "But why would you ride through those woods and darkness this late? Wait there, I'm coming." Veer told her. Aadhya couldn't tell him that her safety never mattered to her, but his did. Everything related to him matters to her. She was hell bent on not letting him come here, or go somewhere else. She somehow tried convincing him to meet at the cafe, but he didn't budge. As he hung up asking her to stay where she was, Aadhya gritted her teeth, saying he never tried to understand what she was telling him. Before Aadhya could complain more about Veer to herself, her phone again went off. But this time, the caller ID sent chills to her spine. Her Boss. Aadhya cleared her throat and straightened her shoulders before answering. "Hello?" "You have only 2 days more DA, remember!" She heard the same old voice warning her. "I know and I'm very close to the target. Don't worry, D.A. never misses her targets." She mumbled, in a confident tone. "I heard that you are getting along with him, your target. Spending time with him and all the s**t. What's going on?" His voice told Aadhya that he was testing her still. She gasped inwardly. Of course, he had his sources. She tried her best not to let her emotions reflect in her voice. " It's a part of my plan. A trap." She clarified, gritting her teeth. "Whatever. But remember only two days more!" "Yeah yeah." She muttered uninterestedly. After hanging up, out of her frustration she picked up a flower vase and threw it hard at the mirror in front of her. As she watched the glass shattering and its pieces falling one by one, 'This is going to happen with my life in two days' she muttered under her breath. ---------- I woke up to find myself back in the hospital room. Veer was nowhere to be seen but I knew that he was somewhere near. How? I don't know. I remembered the latest dream I had seen. Veer was in danger. I was clearly linked to the last dream before this one where I was assigned to kill him. What kind of job was this? The way I saw myself in the dream, I guess that Veer didn't know anything and I had secrets. But here, the reality is different. Here, he has secrets and I don't. One can't even understand in what kind of a situation I am stuck, where I have to trust those dreams of mine, which could be really irrelevant or just a game played by my own mind. Suddenly, something clicked in my mind. I took that notepad of mine in which I'd written my two dreams and sketched a logo of K&F and now, I wanted to note down the latest dream of mine also in it. Veer was still not back even after I finished writing. Taking the chance, I got up and started striding out but then stopped remembering what happened the last time I did that. But that couldn't stop me from going out. I just promised myself to be safe. I was just wandering around looking everywhere but in front and accidentally bumped into something and immediately stepped back. "Aah, I'm sorry." I mumbled. "You should be resting in your room, Ms. Aadhya. What are you doing here?" I tilted my head in an upward direction only to see a tall man with long hair giving me a sharp look. I left like I'd seen him before, then it clicked to me, he was Kabir, the chief doctor. The one who fought with Veer. "Doctor, I w..." I started, but he cut me off. "You can call me Kabir." He said. "You can call me Aadhya then, Kabir. I was just trying to locate Veer." I told him. "Do you trust him?" I was caught off guard by his question. What should I answer? Wait, why was he asking me this? "I know it's a bit personal, but I believe that your answer would help you and me both." Kabir responded. I was staring at him trying to find out what he was trying to imply. Before I could answer anything, he walked away saying 'answer soon'. As I took a few steps forward, I heard Kabir saying that Veer was on the terrace. So I directed my legs towards the terrace. I still couldn't understand how, but again as I reached the terrace, I felt his presence. There he was, face towards the setting sun in the opposite direction. I looked around and realised that even this hospital was in the middle of nowhere, fully surrounded by big trees before taking small steps with my eyes fixed on his back. Before my hand could reach his shoulder, he called out to me by my name. I was stunned. He never turned behind and I didn't make any bit of noise. Unless he had been operating the hospital cameras with his phone, how could he know I was approaching him? Veer never turned back, instead. I stood besides him. I felt his arm reaching my shoulder and, without my acknowledgement, my head was over his shoulder. Frankly speaking, I didn't pull back because this felt like heaven, even if my brain was trying to plot this man as a devil from hell, my heart knew how much worried I saw myself in my dream for him. I knew that he was a liar, but I couldn't deny that he mattered to me a lot. Even if I couldn't remember anything, only the memories were faded, not the feelings. After some moments of peace, he decided to break the silence. His voice pierced through my thoughts. "You don't trust me, right?" Veer asked, though his voice clarified that he knew the answer. But the problem was, I myself didn't know the answer.
