The large Incubus' face went red as he grew angrier. "I am the king! They are honored to serve me! Unlike you who will be dead!"
The king started to swing at Dan, unaware that he was sinking into the ground. Dan shook his head as he said, "so slow and stupid."
The king stopped as he jumped from the lava puddle. "Not good enough, human! I am immune to such," then fell on his face as Dan hit him with a double electric shock.
Dan moved in, taking the king's other arm, then a leg. He was about to take his head when he rolled away.
Dan grimaced as the sword hit the ground as he apologized to it. Dan could feel that his strength was again starting to wane.
He looked at the king as he was rapidly regrowing his limbs. Letting out a sigh, he looked at the sword as it started to glow through all its colors, then added another clear shine.
The king stared at Dan and his sword, a smile creeping on his lips. "So, nine aspects. It is you that the elfin king has set such a high reward for. It will be my pleasure to remove your head, life and the smirk you wear."
"You can try," Dan said as they moved together faster than any could follow. As they stopped opposite of each other, the king gagged then fell as his head separated from his shoulders.
The quiet was unnatural, then the others knelt before Dan. Ah, s**t Dan thought as he looked out at them.
Dan looked back at the females with him with a look of confusion. "What in the hell are they doing?" Dan asked.
Gre'ta came close to him and whispered in his ear. "I believe that you killed the king, therefore, you are now the king."
"WHAT the hell!?" Dan shouted, making a look of disbelief on his face. "Who is the first?"
A somewhat small Incubus came running up to Dan then knelt. "I was the king's aid sire," the small Incubus said.
"Is what she said true?" Dan asked, trying to keep the anger out of his voice. He had noticed that most there were slightly trembling.
"Y, yes sire. By the law, you killed him, now all that he had is yours. That includes," Here the aid stopped, twenty Succubi females walked forward, all a look of terror on their faces. "All the wives of the king.
Dan turned and stared at Gre'ta an almost look of terror on his face. "I don't have time for this damn it, I have to complete whatever the hell this is."
All the females there with him, had a look of sympathy on their faces, but didn't offer any resolutions. Dan shook his head, how in the hell had he gotten himself into this?
Gre'ta stayed nearest to him as she could see that this situation was stressing him out. "Perhaps you can release them back to their tribes."
Dan could only stare at Gre'ta almost in disbelief. "Knowing the laws here, they won't allow it, besides all of them are terrified of me. Convincing them that I don't mean to kill them might not fly."
Gre'ta looked at the twenty, then Dan. "Damnit you just might be right. We need to have a meeting about this."
Dan nodded his head as he agreed with Gre'ta about this. He was already having a really bad feeling about all of this.
He then instructed the aid to have all of the Incubi to return to their village. He told him that he'd visit them soon.
He then sat with the females that were with him and tried to figure a way out of this. The looks on his female companions weren't giving him a good feeling.
They had discussed the problem for an hour before an idea hit him. He took a deep breath, he and the females entered the village.
He hoped that this would work as he really wasn't up for ruling the Incubi. He had a meeting called for all the faction leaders of the tribe, still hoping this would work.
When they all arrived, he put to them a question. He wanted to have the strongest to rule in his stead while he was out pursuing his quest.
The loud grumbling that met him quickly had him drawing his sword. "So," he shouted over the rest. "I see that I will have to kill all of you in order to keep the peace."
This had the desired effect, all quieting all very quickly. He looked at each as sternly as he could, seeing that all of them were slightly shaking.
"I do not have the time to stay here and rule. The damn white elf king has been after me for a time now. I intend to go after him. At the moment he is badly injured. I will not be chased anymore," Dan said, anger plain on his face.
"What will you do about the tribe king?" One of the faction leaders asked. "We will need a leader to rule while you are gone."
"We will have a contest to see who is the strongest. If one of you kills another, then your faction will need another leader. I hope I am understood," a wicked smile lighting up his face.
This had the leaders shaking a bit though they were eager to enter. At least they were 'til the first contest a leader killed another, Dan beheaded it immediately.
Those that hadn't believed that Dan wouldn't kill them, were very quickly believers of what he'd said. Dan smiled wickly again as, after two days, they had a winner.
Dan explained what he wanted to be done and for protection over the tribe and the nearby succubi tribe. He stared into the eyes of all the tribe that had gathered.
"I may be gone for quite a while, if you disobey I will know. I now have nine aspects, you don't want me angry at you. I will know, and I will rid the tribe of you, one way or another," Dan said with intensity."
He and the females turned and headed toward the pull that Dan was still feeling. He could feel that the leaders were waiting for him to leave.
Almost as soon as they were out of sight, the one he'd left in charge started to bark orders. Dan had them stop as he watched the leader send assassins after them.
He suddenly stopped as his legs collapsed under him. A vision of Dan appeared before the screaming leader. "You were truly that stupid, not believing that I'd punish you? Think again, also," A moment later, all the assassins appeared beside the leader. "Remember what I said, I will know."
All there bowed before the vision of Dan, who bent to touch the head of the leader and whispered. "Remember the pain," then the leader screamed again as Dan vanished.
Dan looked at the females, nodded, then they started off slightly toward the king's castle. The pull seemed to be in that general direction but not quite.
It seemed that the closer that they got to it, the more of a pain in the ass the pull became. Dan stopped at pointed toward where the pull was and concentrated.
The scream he heard was as satisfying as he thought it would be. He then thought as hard as he could. I told you not to do this as hard, if you do that again, I will kill you.
Again he heard another scream as the pull was cut almost completely off. Dan sighed as his head was now mercifully quieter, we'd see, he thought.
They were only a day away from the Incubi village when they heard a familiar grunt not far ahead. He started to pull all his shields out when they encountered pig troops, ogres, goblins and spectures.
They stopped as the small army before them also stopped. Dan sighed as he felt that they were only delaying him from where he was going.
A very large pig soldier came forth from the group, marching confidently towards Dan. "I am here to offer you a good deal. Leave the bitches for us to use, you go, and we let you live."
Dan smiled a truly terrible smile. "I've got a much better idea. I kill you and the rest can go home, if not," here Dan shrugged. "Then I kill you anyway and then the rest of them. I guarantee, it will be as painful as I can make it."
The large pig soldier started to laugh as he looked at Dan. "We will not leave, neither will you."
The large pig soldier started to draw its sword, then noticed that it couldn't breathe as its head hit the ground. Those behind him seemed to panic slightly as many started forward, then fell dead.
The goblins and Ogres were dead almost as fast, many just falling over without a head. The truly frightening thing was that no one had seen Dan move.
The spectures were about to move forward when they saw several colors off of Dan's sword. More than half of the pig soldiers had stopped. The largest specture floated slowly towards Dan and bowed.
"Sir Grand Mage," came the trembling ghostly voice. "We were told that an evil that was out to kill us was approaching." Here the specture bowed again, "We are not here to make war with you and yours."
Dan nodded as he reached out and touched the specture. The specture gasped as it grew brighter, "I see that all of you are sick also. If you wish, I can heal the rest."
The specture's mouth was hanging open as it nodded and motioned to the other spectures. As they approached slowly, their own mouths were open as they stared at the leader.
The leader had them all line up as Dan actually touched each one of them, all growing much lighter and brighter. After they had all been touched, all of them bowed to Dan.
"You have the loyalty of the specture tribe. We will bring more to you as soon as we can gather most of the rest," the specture leader said.
Dan nodded as the spectures disappeared. He then turned toward what was left of the pig soldiers, "So I take it that you wish to die" Dan asked.
For a moment, the soldiers thought about attacking Dan, then, they shook their heads as they turned and fled. Dan turned back to the females that were with him and smiled, "Definitely better."
The eleven with him nodded their agreement. Dan started to move forward as did those with him. A pair of succubus eyes followed them as they started to move out.
She needed to get the human alone so she could talk to him. If this human was indeed the human she'd heard of, then she had no choice to talk to him.
She sighed as she watched them all move, that was going to be harder to do than she thought. Eleven other people with him were going to make things far more difficult than they needed to be.
She still had to risk it, he had to know if he was the one. She slowly followed them as she tried to come up with a plan.
Another that was having doubts, was newly following Dan was Cre'sa. She thought that the man knew that she was partly responsible for the attack on him.
She was still wondering why in the hell he hadn't killed her yet. It was actually becoming a worry and a quandary for her that she was growing more fearful.
She'd had seen the sheer power that the grand mage, Dan, had. She was afraid that he could end her basically with a snap of his fingers.
She was almost into the low, high range of spells of the Dark Elf's priestesses. She hadn't anything near the power that he had, only the white elf king had that much.
A sudden thought came to her about the grand mage Dan and the king then she dropped it as fast. There was no way that a human and an elf were related.
She shook her head, she had enough to think about without worrying about nonsense. The simple fact that for now she was fearing for her life was worry enough.
Dan had noticed that Cre'sa was far more worried about something than he thought she should. He had scanned her somewhat and had felt that the attacks he'd felt were near her power.
He wasn't really afraid that she could hurt him now, though the other he'd felt was the true villain in this. That one he had felt running so fast that he hadn't had the time nor inkling to follow.
Dan smiled as he felt that there wasn't really anyone but the king and this pull that could hurt him. He was sure that the fact that he had caught the king so unaware was the reason that he'd hurt him so badly.
Dan's face drew up into a fierce look and scowled, about the king. He knew that all that worked for him were deathly afraid of him, as was proven by Cre'sa. Those at the Palace had acted almost the same way that they were more afraid of the king.
A small smile started to replace the scowl as Dan thought about the palace. It seemed that a great many there were as afraid of him as they were the king.
So, they pushed on drawing closer to the pull, not expecting any that were strong. They had just crusted a rise near a mountain range, when Dan felt them.
He jerked to a stop, as did Cre'sa and En'tra. "Sire," they both said at the same time. Cre'sa took over, "We are feeling the approach of a great many enforcers from our sect. We fear that many other sects might combine with them."
Dan nodded as he, too, had felt the approach of a great many dark-powered individuals. "I'm not really wanting to end as many as I feel approaching. Is the problem about the two of you?" Dan asked.
"I am afraid that it might be, they also don't realize who you are, or they might hesitate. Especially before they rush in," Cre'sa said. "You might have to shadow step them back to the mountains to disway them."
Dan thought of it for a bit, he was sure he could probably get most of them, especially now. The only thing he was afraid of was having the energy to finish.
A moment later, the decision seemed to be made for him as a dark line of moving individuals came into view. They suddenly stopped though, when the first thirty vanished into the shadows.
This time Dan could understand them and the panic that they were expressing. Some of those toward the back were panicked the most as they had been there the last time.
Two that were far more powerful than the rest slowly approached Dan, who had moved out in front. They were shocked at the amount of power and shields that were wrapped around Dan.
"I take it you are the one that attacked us before?" one of them asked.
"First," Dan snapped, "I did not attack you. An errant spell struck your mountain, you attacked me and mine in force. A force that I dealt with as non-combative as I could. I am not your enemy, though that can change very quickly."
Both the Dark Elves backed up a bit at the venom in Dan's voice. "It is standard practice to attack and drive away raiders and enemies. We could not tell the difference as strong as it was."
Dan opened his mouth to say more when a shadowy vision appeared between them. A much older female elf appeared, gasped, then slightly bowed to Dan.
"Grand Mage Dan, we have heard much of your exploits, though never thought to meet you. Well, never meet you again, may I ask you to heal those from before? They still haven't regained their power."
Dan thought of the meeting before and those he'd sent back with no power. He thought for a minute seeing them, then removed the wall that was in them. "That should do it," he said.
The older elf nodded with her mouth open, "May we help you?"
Dan reached out to the two before him, barely touching them, then they were healed. "I am only passing through. As you can see, Cre'sa and En'tra are aiding me. I wish for their continued aid, which I will intern aid the dark elf clans."
The two males and the older female's mouths dropped open. Then Dan pointed at the older female as she was suddenly before him, he touched her as she grew healthy.
"As I said, I am willing to help those that wish it," Dan said. "I am also sure that you have heard of the tribes and clans that have refused." Here Dan hung his head, "Those I can't help."
The highest, oldest, dark priestess nodded her head as she felt like that a lot recently. "It is a steady problem that many that are too proud for their own good."
Dan sighed, he'd expected that the first meeting of the head dark elves would have been more confrontational. A smile came to his lips as he nodded, good news for once was a relief.
The older high priestess looked at both the dark elves with Dan, and gasped. "They are far higher than they should be. I take it that this is an effect of being with you?"
Dan looked at Cre'sa and En'tra, nodding, then at the other females with him. "I have found that, yes, they happen to grow far faster with me than not."
The older dark priestess smiled a bit, then chuckled. "So, it as the legend and prophecy are true after all."
This caught Dan's attention immediately, this is what he had been looking for. "Can you expound on this prophecy?"
"All we have heard is that a human would appear with no magical power. They would gain all aspects of magic, then free those that wished it, healing all that they could. Tell me what powers do you have?" the older priestess asked.
"Um," Dan said as he thought about it. "I have fire, water and ice, healing light and defensive light. Let's see, a form of dark shadow magic, I feel there is another. I have air and nature, I have lightening and time though the last? I am unsure of."
"So, you are a grand mage, almost an arch mage. Can you explain how you got them?" the older priestess asked.
Here Dan's face scrunched up, as did most of the females with him. "We had a lot of theories about it but no real ideas."
Dan and the rest of them thought about it while the priestess started to bring others of the clan there. Like her, they all left with their mouths hanging open now that they were healed.
Almost an hour later, a tired Dan and the head priestess looked at each other. The priestess then bowed to Dan as he did to her as she gasped.
"I do not feel that I am better than you, therefore I will not act that way. Though I don't have all the answers, at least now I have a few," Dan said.
The priestess smiled at Dan, "For what you have done for us, you have our eternal gratitude. When you go against the king, we will fight at your side."
Dan bowed to her again, "It seems that I have the aid of a great many that I have healed. I will call everyone when the time comes, though I am afraid that it will be me and him that fight. From all I have heard, he is as strong as I am."
The priestess nodded as she and the rest vanished. Dan took a deep breath as he and the others made their way closer to the palace.
The king was still being healed as his own healing hadn't taken over yet. He'd awoken briefly in a lot of pain and warmed all there, to not attack the human.
"He has eneded far too many white elf lives, he is strong enough to end even twice as more. I will take care of him when I am healed. Remember do not antagonize him," the king said before he passed out again.
The royal healer had had to rest many times and only now was starting on one leg. As tired as he was, he liked living as he knew the king wouldn't hesitate to kill him.
It was bad enough that they had lost a great many of the political prisoners that they had. The king was going to have a big enough fit about that, especially when his top spy was gone.
A great many of the nobles that had agreed with the king had also been eliminated. Though he was secretly happy about some of them being gone, he held his tongue.
A lot of the reports that the generals had received were also dishearting. The healer shook his head, glad that he wouldn't face the wrath of the king, at least he thought he wouldn't.
He wasn't sure, lately no one was safe from the elf king's wrath, that was for sure. Thewre3 had also been a great amount of whispering about the king's mother and sister.
The healer shook his head, he wasn't about to go there. He really had no opinion about their leaving or disappearance.
The healer looked at the door, seeing a great many of the nobles that were feeling for their lives. Taking a deep breath, the healer started in on the one leg that wasn't as bad.
This was going to take a few more days as slow as he was going. He was surprised that the king wasn't mad at him for his healing being so slow.
He sighed, that still remained to be seen. "Has he awoken again?" a noble asked, afraid to come into the room.
"Not yet," the healer said, "When he does, if I am still alive I will war, uh advise you he is."
"Do not antagonize him, healer, not if you wish to live," the same noble said.
"I hold my life in higher regard than you do. Besides, at the moment, I am the only one that can barely heal him, the healer said.
"You best watch your tongue healer! With a word," the noble started.
"You forget who I am and what I am doing. You might say that I have the king's ear. I think that is you who needs to watch your tongue," the healer snipped.
A groan from the king, then he whispered, "I think it's a little late for that, dead noble." The noble screamed then fell over dead. I see you have almost finished my leg. The pain has lessened greatly, I will remember."
The healer nodded as the king stayed awake, his own healing finally starting.
