The healer looked at the door, seeing a great many of the nobles that were feeling for their lives. Taking a deep breath, the healer started in on the one leg that wasn't as bad.
This was going to take a few more days as slow as he was going. He was surprised that the king wasn't mad at him for his healing being so slow.
He sighed, that still remained to be seen. "Has he awoken again?" a noble asked, afraid to come into the room.
"Not yet," the healer said, "When he does, if I am still alive I will war, uh advise you he is."
"Do not antagonize him, healer, not if you wish to live," the same noble said.
"I hold my life in higher regard than you do. Besides, at the moment, I am the only one that can barely heal him, the healer said.
"You best watch your tongue healer! With a word," the noble started.
"You forget who I am and what I am doing. You might say that I have the king's ear. I think that is you who needs to watch your tongue," the healer snipped.
A groan from the king, then he whispered, "I think it's a little late for that, dead noble." The noble screamed then fell over dead. "I see you have almost finished my leg. The pain has lessened greatly, I will remember."
The healer nodded as the king stayed awake, his own healing finally starting.
This was going to have to stop, the king thought. I know that I am far stronger than this human is, how is he able to overcome me?
The healer kept going, not daring to open his mouth. He almost had the one leg done, as he could see that the king's healing was indeed starting.
An hour later, the healer was able to start on the other leg. The healing was going faster the more he got done.
The king, still grimacing, looked at the doorway, then beckoned to the first he saw. "How many of the nobles have we lost," he asked.
The youth that approached him bowed to the floor, "over half, especially in the upper reaches of the houses. My own cruel father included in that number."
The king tried to think about it, though thought was still difficult. Only the upper ranks of the nobles? This was going to take a bit of thought, he thought, as the pain lessened.
Dan and the females with him trudged onward as he was following the pull. He was far happier now that the strong pull from before was gone.
He smiled as he thought that the threat of death might have worked. The problem was that he still had no idea just what or who the pull was.
Dan saw that they were finally out of the Incubi and Succubus territory. They had managed to get the Succubus tribe that left a few hours ago, to accept the twenty that were with him.
He had been afraid that they might have wanted to kill them. He also felt fortunate that most had been from the tribe he met there.
They had passed a great many Succubus tribes but hardly any Incubi. Dan had thought to ask those with him, but kept his own council 'til later.
They had barely passed over the border when he felt the approach of more of the spectures. Dan was tense as he felt then drawing closer, then saw the leader of the one that he'd met before.
"Hail Grand Mage Dan, I have brought several more tribes with me," the specture said. Dan could see that the great many with him were indeed far worse than the ones he met before.
Dan also saw that there was a great many more than he had healed before. Dan reached to the first in line, then stopped when the specture drew back.
Dan stepped back and lowered his hand, looking at the leader from before. "I am afraid that I can't heal them as they are completely terrified of me. I'm afraid that the healing won't work. I'm sorry that you brought them all this way, but if they refuse there's nothing I can do.
The leader nodded as sadly as Dan and turned to the multitude there. "Is there just one here that is not afraid that the Grand Mage won't destroy you? If so, step forward."
For a few moments there was only fearful murmuring, then a young-looking specture floated forward. "I am not afraid, though can I ask, will it hurt?"
Dan, a look of shock on his face, bent to the young specture. "I didn't think that you could feel pain, young one," Dan said softly.
"I was told that only a mage could make us feel pain," the young specture said as it looked at Dan. "You won't hurt me, will you mage, sir?"
"I will do my best to not hurt you," Dan said in all honesty.
"You lie!" A voice rose loudly from near the back. "You're a human, your kind has never done anything but hurt our kind."
Dan nodded as he looked at the female specture near the back. "If you think I will hurt you, then you come and receive the healing first. That is unless the brave specture clans are afraid."
"Afraid! The specture clans are not afraid of a mere human!" the female specture said as she weakly pushed her way forward. "Now human," she spit in disgust, "When you hurt me, my family will take your soul!"
Dan shook his head as he waited, then said, "I can not heal you if you refuse, as I can feel you are. You said you wanted me to, but you still refuse, I am sorry, but I can not while you won't allow me." Dan turned to the leader with a sigh. "This young one is the only one that will allow me to heal them."
Dan reached out gently and placed a hand on the spectral shoulder of the young specture. There was a massive gasp as the young specture grew brighter and much healthier.
The specture laughed as the healing had tickled, he then thanked Dan and ran to his mother. He pulled her to Dan, as it asked him to heal her.
"Do you wish me to heal you?" Dan asked. The female specture still speechless, could only nod as Dan reached out and touched her.
Again there was a huge gasp as the female grew brighter and healthier. The female whose mouth was open motioned to a few who were carrying a male specture.
"Can, can you help him? He and my son are all that I have left," the female finally spoke in a pleading voice.
"I can try, though if he refuses, then I am afraid that I won't be able," Dan said as the male was brought forward.
The female bent forward and started to whisper into the male's ear. At first, the male shook his head 'til he opened his eyes and saw the female and youth.
Then, with a weak sigh, he looked at a sad Dan. He then started to whisper back to the female, the voice growing weaker.
"He has agreed but please hurry," she pleaded. "He is so weak I am afraid that he won't last much longer."
Dan immediately knelt and laid a hand on the male. Dan's arm started to glow, as did the male. The glow started to get brighter as Dan had to pour more and more energy into him.
Finally, two minutes later, the male drew a steady breath, then his eyes opened. "Shalah? What has happened? I thought I was dead, just glad to be with you. Then I felt an almost holy power grasp me and slowly pull me back." He turned to look at a pale-looking Dan. "It was you I felt, thank you," Then he saw the young male specture Dan had healed. "Santra?"
The female specture nodded with a smile as the young male specture hugged the both of them. The female bowed to Dan, "I thank you for my family as I said they are all I have left, thank you."
Dan nodded, then teetered, Gre'ta grabbing him as he almost fell. "So the great human is a fake after all!" The same female from before shouted, but was quickly quieted by the glare of the leader.
He arose and got in the face of the female, "You will be fortunate if he ever consents to heal you. Especially after what he just did. He healed two entire clans of dark elves, be quiet or I might take exception!"
The female shrunk down to half her size as she realized the error that she had just made. She then made her way to Shalah and started to beg her to get the human to help her family.
"I will ask him, though with as negative as you were, it will depend on you," Shalah said as the female nodded her head.
Gre'ta turned to the leader, "I am afraid that the last he did for the male took more than he thought it would. I am afraid that he will need to rest then he can start on the others."
The leader, the few that had come back with him and the male and female made all the sick comfortable. The leader was surprised when more of the specture clans appeared.
There was a hint of disappointment 'til it was explained what Dan had done. Luckily, none were as bad off as the male had been, but Gre'ta made sure that the worst were ready to go first.
Almost ten hours later, Dan awoke with a start, a little confused about where he was. Then again, he was even more surprised when he saw the huge amount of specture clans waiting for him.
The leader and the male and female had gone through all there, explaining that Dan needed them to agree to healing. Almost all had seen what Dan had done and were readily in agreement.
As Dan walked through, he had to barely touch them to heal, though there were still at least twenty that didn't. Dan sadly walked away even when they started to yell at him.
What surprised him the most was when another clan of Dark elves that appeared. He had started to heal a few of them, when he stopped, shaking his head, he walked away.
The older dark elf he'd met the day before appeared with a questioning look on her face. "As I tell all that I heal, if I feel that they are resisting or refusing, then I can not heal them."
The elder Priestess looked at those that had shown up and shook her head. One of them was her younger sister, who wore a disgusted look on her face.
"So," the elder Priestess said to her and the others. "You don't wish to continue to live as this disease will kill you. The human," she started, then was interrupted.
"What! The human is the only one that can heal us? Bah, such fantasy stories. If he is as powerful as you say he is, then he heal no matter what," her sister spit.
The elder Priestess shook her head as she sadly looked at her sister. "I will miss you, even your spiteful moods,"the elder Priestess said as she turned her back to walk away.
"You are all powerful you can make him," the sister said.
The elder Priestess stopped and said, "You are more a fool than I thought. He is far more powerful than the WHOLE tribe or have you forgotten how to scan? As I said, I will miss you, sister."
A great wailing started from almost all of the Dark clan that were refusing the healing. "Sister!" Came a wailing voice, "Help us, we are dying!"
"I can not," the elder Priestess said, "Unfortunately, only you can help you. I am afraid that none of you realize what I have said. It is sad to lose a whole clan that is foolish and can't learn."
Dan watched the elder Priestess as she walked away with a sad look on her face. "I am sorry that there is nothing I can do," Dan said.
The elder Priestess sighed as she nodded her head, "I am also, though I hope that some of the younger ones listened. Perhaps you might save my sister if she can get out of her head."
Dan nodded, "There have been a few tribes and clans that refused me almost completely. Among the Golems, the harpies, some wolf tribes, I just can't save them, even if they have time."
"As you said, there is time, though not a lot, as my sister's is drawing close to an end. I thank you though for your efforts in trying," the elder priestess said.
Dan sighed as he nodded, then went to Gre'ta and the others. He explained what had occurred and why he had stopped the healing when he did.
They all nodded as they took what Dan had said and walked out among those that weren't healed. An hour later, they all returned with about a hundred of the vast amount that had refused.
Dan was surprised when he saw a few of the elder Priestess, sister's clan among them. Even more startling was the fact that all of them were sincere.
He had just finished with them when another twenty approached him. They all apologized, then allowed Dan to heal them.
He was a little happier though there were still a few hundred that refused. He told the leader and the Priestess that they were leaving, then they set out.
They hadn't gone more than a few miles when another army approached then this time in greater numbers. "Use all your strongest spells," Dan said as the army drew close.
Dan started to draw out all eight shields that he had, wrapping all of them within them. He watched as incinerate, water sword and ice spear passed him. Then light, dark, and air sword followed. Then wooden, electric spears and sound blast following them.
Dan smiled as the first rows of Trolls, goblins, Pig soldiers along with several hundred white elves fell. Then the same spells rushed past him a second time, taking even more out.
He turned and saw that all of the females were panting. There had been a few spells that he hadn't recognized, he'd ask later. He then released a double electric blast that seemed to freeze over half that were left.
"I really don't want to kill all of you," Dan yelled. An extremely large troll and almost as big Pig soldier stepped forward.
A very large incubus stepped forward with them. A very large harpy flew to the front, each one with a large sword, lance, club or bow held in a death grip.
"Ha, you haven't the power to beat all of us. You might beat some of us, but you'll lose one or two of your bitches. So, you might as well give them to us then we can skin them and you slowly. Of course, we'll put them to good use," the Pig soldier said the suddenly fell over dead, a huge shadow sword that had fazed through its chest.
Dan had drawn his sword, and it was glowing eight different colors, as Dan was as well. Through gritted teeth, Dan said, "You may try, but I guarantee," here Dan growled as he glowed even brighter. "I guarantee you won't live long."
Dan seemed to take a step, then though appeared not to move as the Troll's head fell off. The Harpy hit the ground, both wings lying on the ground beside her. The Incubus started to laugh 'til it realized it was missing its arms and legs.
As the Incubus and Harpy started to scream, Dan turned a cold, lethal, steel look at the rest that were left. Again, between clenched teeth he said loudly, "anymore or is this over?"
There was a great shout as many lurched forward, again Dan seemed to take a step. Suddenly, almost all there dropped to the ground as almost all of them were missing their legs.
Dan's cold, hard look on his face was accented by the blood dripping from his sword. "Well?" Dan said as he looked at the few that were whole and alive.
The few looked at Dan and the blood on his sword, then at their fallen comrades. They immediately dropped their weapons, turning and fleeing as fast as they could.
Dan took a deep breath as he started to turn when his skill window opened. {Fire witch has gained 2x flame shield}, {Water witch has gained 2x water shield/ ice shield},{Life elf gained 2x light shield}, {Shadow elf gained 2x shadow shield},{Harpy gained 2x air shield}, {Light elf gained 2x light shield}, {Felych gained poison thorns}, {Dragon has gained Electric Aura}.
Dan tried to blink it away, amazed that they had all almost gained a skill. He was especially proud that some were at the higher levels.
All of the females were finally starting to breathe slower when he nodded. He started to take a step when his legs started to shake, guess I used a little too much.
He sat taking another deep breath when his personal skill window opened. {You have gained skills: Water Storm and Blizzard, Shadow Confusion, Air Attack, light sword, 2x wooden shield, Electric Shock, Time arrange}.
Holy s**t, Dan thought he was almost as high as he could go with some of them. Four and a half were at eight and four and a half were at seven.
Dan nodded his head, he was going to have to be careful, he was dam high now. He had to make sure that his body had the energy to use them before, {you have gained eight hundred more magic points}.
Well, he thought that was good, that's when he felt that he was drained. Damn it, this sucked, especially after almost all of them went up.
Bell, Gre'ta, Tygan and En'tra moved far faster than he thought they could. They all caught him before he smashed his face into the ground.
"Well s**t," Dan said, "Here I thought that I handle on that."
"You forgot that your magic seems to be linked to your emotions. As angry as you were, it's surprising that you lasted this long," Gre'ta said. "What got you so angry?"
"They said that they were going to take you all when I fought them. I wasn't about to let them get their slimy hands on you," Dan said, not noticing that he was glowing again.
All four of them were worried that Dan might hurt himself as Bell and Gre'ta tried to calm him. "We're alright, Dan, calm please, you are starting to manifest again," Greta said in a calming voice.
"Please Dan," Bell said, "Please calm down we're alright. You'll exhaust yourself if you keep going like this."
Dan looked down at his body and hands and took a deep breath. The glow started to rapidly dim, then it was gone, Dan started to feel better.
"Most of you went up a skill level as I did with most at eight now," Dan said, feeling the drain even more now.
"My god," Gre'ta said as Tygan and En'tra looked at each other. "Has your body kept up?"
"Yeah," Dan said as he started to fade. "Got over sixteen hundred in my magic pool, think my life is over twelve hundred."
All four of the females gasped at this news. "Me and my sister are at five hundred," Bell said.
"I am seven hundred," Tygan said, to which En'tra agreed she was also.
Gre'ta shook her head, "I just reached eight hundred. I knew he was powerful, though I didn't realize just how powerful. I need to let the queen know."
"I also need to let the Elder Priestess know," En'tra said as they arose to call their respective parties.
Shae'ten arose to let her elder know, the rest staying near Dan to try and shield and protect him while he was out.
For Dan this time, he had a dream that left him more than confused when it finished. It started with his mother standing before him, though she looked far different than she had before.
Hello my son, she said as she stood still in front of him. It appears that you are indeed becoming far more powerful than we thought you would.
Dan's mouth opened to ask her what the hell she was talking about, when his sister appeared. Dan noticed that she too, looked far different than she ever had.
Mother, his sister started. I am afraid that he still isn't ready for this information. I am afraid that he might hate the both of us when he learns it.
Dan tried the most to ask a question, but it seemed that something was preventing him from speaking. Yes, I know daughter, I just hope that my brother can help him, though he has hurt several helpers.
Yes, l know mother, he has a temper like fathers. We should, his sister started when Dan lost his temper again.
Don't you dare ignore me! What in the hell was going on? Dan saw that both of them were almost blown out of the dreamscape.
Dan! His mother's voice resounded throughout the dreamscape. Dan stopped a moment as he saw the hurt looks on the both of them.
For the moment, we can't say much as the king is listening to everything that is near you. For now, you know that you are on the right path. Also, you need to talk to the succubus that is following you.
Yeah I know, I've felt her since we left the incubus village. Not sure what the hell she wants, but she won't come any closer.
It is important that she joins you and the group. Also, I wanted to be the first to congratulate you. I am so glad that I'll be a grandmother soon.
What! What nin the hell are you talking about? I haven't, son of a b***h those strange dreams I had in the Dragon caves.
His mother and sister were starting to get worried as Dan again started to glow. They did it without my consent, I should leave them again since I am nothing to them!
There was an explosion as the dreamscape was blown apart. He awoke with a swirling storm of energy like a tornado above him.
He looked at all eleven females with an almost ferrel look on his face as he growled at them. "You never f*****g asked, you just took it from me! So, I am nothing to any of you but a breeder. You know what? The hell with all of you!"
With that, the shadows leaped out to him, then he was gone. They all looked at each other. "How does he know?" Gre'ta asked.
