Kira wakes up again when the sunlight began to bother her face, releasing a moan of annoyance before opening her eyes, she felt too comfortable where she is, but seeing her around her she understands it.
A spacious room of red tones and silver ornaments forming patterns on the walls, various elegant furniture of Middle Eastern origin, the air has a pleasant aroma of incense.
"At last you wake up apparently," says the goat of oblivion entering from the balcony.
"Everything hurts, as if I had been hit by a truck."
"Normal, you have several fractures, your body is recovering thanks to your quick healing. You could hardly feel pain until it was all over, apparently you entered a state, although weak for being the first time, which Golden Bird calls bloodlust."
"I know what it is," Kira sits on the bed, thundering her back.
The man looks at her waiting for her to elaborate more on the matter, but she ignores him. Kira gets up all at once, at least she's not naked.
"I must congratulate you on fulfilling the mission, more than expected I would say."
Kira goes to speak when the growl in her stomach interrupts her.
"You have lunch on the table, I don't need more than that growl to know how hungry you are." He laughs.
Kira feels a slight burning on her cheeks and approaches the table, where a plate of chicken and mashed potatoes with an assortment of vegetables await her still hot. At that moment she realizes how hungry she is and sits down to eat, drinking some of the juice.
"Where is she?"
"She is at the airport with your new friend, he will go to your country and they will receive her there, she already talked to your father apparently. He's an orphan now, there's a good life waiting for him or so she said."
"Let's see if he acclimatizes," she smiles as she feels the taste of sweet and sour chicken. "We will find out in the winter in a short time."
"I found the information you need, including the contact, you can send a message to arrange a meeting."
"Can I ask something?"
The man nods as he left two envelopes on one of the tables by the bed.
"What exactly are you and what do you do?"
The man looks at her with a thoughtful air as he pulled out a long-carved tube pipe, gives her a long puff before expelling a row of purplish smoke.
"I guess if you've started in this world, you deserve an explanation." He sits on the other chair at the table. "Many call us mercenaries, murderers or just opportunists, but closer to hunters. We protect not only the different races and species, but we also unravel and network cover the hidden history."
"Hidden history?"
"Many of the races have forgotten their true history, texts and manuscripts have been lost over time. The existence of the gods on earth, is an example, take for example your own existence, the same lycans. Do you know how your species originated?"
"We descend from the same Goddess Dianica, the very deity of the moon, she created us in the image and likeness of her own lost son."
"But in cultures, even being of the same species, the origin story is different even if they contain the same mother goddess. You always have to consider the different stories that are told, look for the source in different worlds or in their people."
"Before he said that the gods inhabited the earth, what do you mean?"
"In our studies we have uncovered evidence of wars older than the time we have here and creatures or even beings that go beyond our comprehension. We are deciphering the few books we have with us."
"Looking for something?
"We don't know that yet, but this war seems to have been repeated at least 3 times before, in different places and different cultures; but the conflict seems to narrate the same thing in different areas of the world."
Kira frowns, wondering what exactly they are looking for, she recalled the book she bought in Samahabdira. She looks around looking for her things and it doesn't take long to see her suit, backpack and bags on a coat rack. She hesitates in herself to give it to her to examine, but there was a risk that she would take it away if it has any important value; but it can be helpful if it is in another language.
"Can I read any of these texts? They sound interesting."
"As soon as you are interested in the mission? Curious. Even though they are an apprentice, many young people prefer some action to research."
"I got an interesting book that I liked to read, but it's in another language."
"Would you let me see it?"
Kira gets up and goes to her backpack, taking the book out of the inside and she gives it to man.
He looks at the cover, outlining the huge tree on the cover with his nails.
"The Yggdrasil."
"Isn't that the tree that sustains the nine realities?"
"Right, there are very few books that speak directly about it," he opens it by taking a look inside but almost immediately closes it with a frown." Well, this will be troublesome for you."
"What do you say?"
"You were right, it's written in a very old language and you'll probably find someone to speak it."
"Thank you for encouraging me to read it," she growls. "It just serves as an ornament, then?"
"Our organization has several linguists who can find the pattern and origin roots of a language, or the languages that descend from it. I am afraid that our intelligence group will be busy in other investigations and what Maldey was doing, will take time to return it to you if it is not valuable."
"Who said I'm going to give it to you? It's my book, I want to read it at least," he snorts across his arms. "If your linguists and intelligence can't do it, give me the tools and books needed to do the translation."
"I doubt it, even with your gifts that you showed great skill in battle, this is something else.
Kira growls menacingly, her eyes shining with mysterious power,
"Be careful what you say, goat of oblivion. At least let her try instead of rejecting her idea, you said it yourself, the organization is busy with the last events that won't have the time. I'm sure some other projects and books were left behind, or am I wrong?" Annie speaks as she enters the room.
Kira looks at him with a faint smile on his side.
"That's true, but she's twelve years old, you think she can understand what she has to do and how to work on translation?"
"You don't lose anything, she is quite careful with things and her possessions. If you worry so much, I'll be around but it's pretty smart, it's not just pretty."
"Okay, okay, I'll follow your advice, will it be your apprentice? You know the protocol."
"What protocol?"
Kira looks at the two adults somewhat curious, this organization sounds interesting and more than mysterious.
"Don't worry, I have already sent the papers with the information, we just need the answer, plus when we have to go see the Master."
"You know very well what will happen if she fails, she is not yet on the record."
"I know the risks, I don't need you to give me a speech."
The man snorts.
"I will take the book for consultation and send me the books with the material you will need, I will have it before you depart for your next destination."
He left the two alone.
Kira sits down again and resumes her meal again.
"How do you feel?" Annie sits in front of her.
"I'm still sore, but at least I can move better. Is it true that we find the way to where the dragons are?"
"Yes, we will meet one of the guardian dragons who will communicate us with one of the kingdoms, we require special permission from them."
"Why do you want me to get into the hunters?" Kira decides to be direct.
"I think it can help us unravel or at least distract you from those dreams you still have, you had some dreams with all the tiredness."
"No, I rest all night or maybe it's better to say I faint."
"Well, it was also your first bloodlust."
"It wasn't complete, it barely entered the primary state."
"Don't discredit yourself, achieving it is quite an achievement. Your father only made it until he was sixteen and your mother at fifteen. I believe hunters will help you improve your potential and continue to discover beyond your comfort zone. You also show strange luck, it can be useful."
"Strange luck?" Kira raises an eyebrow.
"What happened during the Maldey ritual? He said he was looking to do with the summoning circle."
Kira begins to tell him what happened, remembering perfectly the vision and smells.
"I can't be sure what I was trying to invoke, but otherwise it worked it only explains one thing, that the wolf was already on earth."
"That smell, it hypnotizes me, I never felt anything like it."
"It's quite likely that he's your soulmate."
"Godmother! I am twelve years old!" Kira blushes. "I won't find my soulmate at this age."
"Honey, it's just a guess, at the age of twelve you start to have clues or chance encounters with the candidate, even with those you can choose by choice. It doesn't mean that's the one destined."
Kira sighs by scratching the back of her head, finish eating and rest the cutlery on the plate.
"When will we leave?"
"As soon as you are more recovered, although from the way I see you it will not take long, unless you want to explore a bit and shop."
"I don't have cash, but if I'd like to explore a bit, I was just doing my mission."
"Don't worry, I have something extra in my bag or I can take something out with your card while you bathe."
Kira nods and takes the card out of her bag, giving her password to her relative.
