Chapter 5 Bodyo used to live with his parents. Then his father died, and his mother was a drunkard who wouldn’t give him any peace. Sometime later, he settled on Vulka Street where he lived by himself in a small house, whose low windows had settled into the ground. First, I took a tram and then walked the rest of the way to get there. His street had no sidewalk and wasn’t paved. I had to walk around puddles, sometimes holding on to the fence. I went into the yard, which was a mess – there were piles of rotted wooden planks from the old floor which Bodyo had replaced with a new one, but for some reason had not burned yet, and rusty buckets and pots from previous owners.
