The Beginning Of Revenge

1037 Words
Ariana had always believed betrayal came from strangers. She was wrong. The deepest wounds were always created by the people you trusted the most. As she sat alone in her office that night, the evidence in front of her felt heavier than anything she had ever held. Messages. Photos. Proof. Three years ago, she lost the man she loved because of a carefully planned lie. And the person behind it was someone who had comforted her while she cried. Elena. Her own cousin. The memory made her hands tighten. She remembered that night. She remembered sitting on the floor of her apartment, unable to breathe from the pain. She remembered Elena holding her and saying: "Ariana, you deserve someone better than Damian." At that time, those words felt like kindness. Now they felt like a knife. Because Elena wasn't helping her heal. She was making sure Ariana would never return. "Ariana." Damian's voice pulled her out of her thoughts. She looked up. He was still standing near the door. "You should leave." His expression changed slightly. "You're angry." "Shouldn't I be?" He didn't answer. Because he knew she was right. Ariana stood and walked toward him. "Three years, Damian." Her voice was quiet. "Do you know how many times I blamed myself?" His eyes lowered. "I thought I wasn't good enough." "Ariana..." "I thought maybe I wasn't beautiful enough. Maybe I wasn't interesting enough. Maybe I wasn't worth staying for." The pain in her voice made Damian look away. But Ariana continued. "Do you understand what your silence did to me?" "I do now." "No." She shook her head. "You don't." Ariana walked past him and opened the office door. "Understanding comes before you destroy someone. Not after." Damian remained silent. Then he said: "Tell me what I can do." She stopped. "What?" "Tell me how to fix this." For a moment, Ariana almost laughed. Fix this? Could someone fix three years of pain? Could someone erase the nights she cried herself to sleep? Could someone return the woman she used to be? No. But maybe... Maybe they could build something new. Not today. Not tomorrow. But someday. "If you really want to fix it..." She looked at him. "Start by telling me the entire truth." Damian nodded. "I will." "And no more secrets." "No more secrets." "Even if the truth hurts?" His eyes met hers. "Especially then." --- The next morning, Ariana arrived at Williams International with a different mindset. Before, she wanted answers. Now, she wanted justice. She wasn't going to destroy people because she was hurt. She wasn't going to become like them. But she was going to make sure they faced the consequences of what they did. "Mia." Her assistant entered. "Yes?" "I need everything on Elena Williams." Mia looked surprised. "Your cousin?" Ariana nodded. "Her financial records. Her business connections. Anyone she has been working with." "Are you sure?" Ariana looked at the city outside. "I have never been more sure about anything." --- Meanwhile, across the city... Elena stared at the news article on her phone. "Williams International CEO Ariana Williams Returns After Three Years Away." Her face twisted with anger. She thought Ariana was gone. She thought the pain had destroyed her. She thought she had won. But Ariana wasn't supposed to come back like this. Successful. Powerful. Untouchable. "No..." Elena threw the phone onto the table. "This can't be happening." A voice behind her spoke. "You underestimated her." Elena turned. Victoria stood near the doorway. "She knows." Victoria smiled slightly. "She knows enough." Elena's expression became worried. "What do we do?" Victoria walked closer. "Don't panic." "You don't understand. Ariana isn't the same anymore." "Exactly." Victoria smiled. "That's what makes this interesting." --- That evening, Ariana attended a business event hosted by some of the city's most influential people. Years ago, she attended events like this beside Damian. She was always introduced as: "Damian Henderson's girlfriend." Tonight, she walked in alone. And everyone knew her name. The room became quiet when she entered. Not because she demanded attention. Because she had earned it. "Ariana Williams." A familiar voice called her name. She turned. Damian. Again. He wore a black suit, looking every bit like the powerful CEO everyone respected. But Ariana noticed something different. He wasn't looking at her like a businessman. He was looking at her like the woman he lost. "Mr. Henderson." He sighed. "Are you always going to call me that?" "Probably." A small smile appeared on his face. "I deserve that." Before Ariana could respond, another voice interrupted. "Damian." They both turned. Victoria. She looked elegant. Perfect. The same woman who had appeared in Ariana's worst memory. Victoria smiled. "Ariana. It's been a long time." Ariana looked at her calmly. "Not long enough." Victoria's smile faded. Damian noticed the tension. "What are you doing here?" Victoria looked at him. "I was invited." Ariana studied her. Three years ago, Victoria made her feel powerless. Today? Ariana saw something else. Fear. Victoria was afraid. And that confirmed one thing. Ariana was getting closer to the truth. "You look happy," Victoria said. Ariana smiled. "I am." "With everything that happened?" "Especially because of everything that happened." Victoria's expression changed. Ariana stepped closer. "You should be careful, Victoria." "What do you mean?" "Sometimes the people who think they destroyed someone are the same people who create their strongest enemy." Silence. For the first time, Victoria looked uncomfortable. Then Damian received a phone call. He answered. His expression changed immediately. "What happened?" Everyone noticed the seriousness on his face. After ending the call, he looked at Ariana. "Your company..." Ariana frowned. "What about it?" Damian hesitated. "Someone leaked confidential information." The room went silent. Ariana's eyes narrowed. She already knew. This wasn't a coincidence. This was a warning. Someone was trying to stop her before she uncovered the truth. She looked at Victoria. Then at Damian. And finally at the crowd surrounding her. Three years ago, they broke her heart. Now they were trying to break her success. But they forgot one thing. Ariana Williams was no longer the woman who walked away crying. She was the woman who came back stronger. And this time... She was ready for war.
