Chapter 19.
I sat alone in the room chatting on w******p with some of my friends. I was lonely and had no one I could talk to. Queen and her group were outside gisting loudly with some of the other hostelmates.
I stood up from my bed when I got tired of chatting and decided to contribute to whatever it was that they were talking about, turned out to be a mistake.
I sat on one of the empty chairs next to Fumbi as they all stopped talking and stared at me instead, it was embarrassing.
"Uhm, so what's up girls?!" I greeted trying to fit into the conversation.
"What are you looking for?!" Peace questioned as I shot her daggers.
"What do you mean? Can't I sit and gist with my friends?" I asked confidently even though I felt humiliated.
"On what grounds? See this fool o, why would we gist with you? Ehn?" Peace blurted out angrilly.
"Ahnahn, are you still angry about what happened, I am not even at fault now. You caused it by spreading false rumour about me and you know Ore won't take it from you since he's involved" I stated politely.
"Ore this, Ore that! Are you the first girl who would have a boyfriend? The thing dey shack you, abi?" Fumbi said with envy.
"I'm sorry now! What have I even done to warrant this from you girls, you have just suddenly hated me. I thought we are friends!"
"Its true sef, Tiwa has done absolutely nothing wrong at all, what's with the hostility?" Queen suddenly contributed while I smiled, if Queen says its okay then the other girls have no choice.
"How can you say that, Queen? Ore is supposed to be your boyfriend, remember?" Peace retorted.
"But he doesn't even like me in return so i shouldnt ruin my friendship with Tiwa just because of that. No boy deserves it, have you forgotten our motto, friends before boys? Plus Ore is too small for me sef, he can't even stand next to my new boyfriend" Queen said as we all sat up ready to listen to her about this new guy.
"I met him on i********:, you girls should know him since he's a little popular, his handle is @gbnaira. His name is gboluwaga" Queen started as we all nodded to knowing him, the guy is a very cute guy and has money too, he's a yahoo boy afterall and he schools in Ladoke Akintola University, Lautech.
"You're kidding right? Out of all the fine girls of IG? Does he know that you are still a secondary school girl?" I exclaimed in surprise as Queen eyed me before responding.
"You think its small boys like Ore that asks me out? @thequeen is global, I just don't loud it too much. And how will he know that I'm a secondary school girl, do you even follow me? Do I look like one? I told him I school in Unilag sef. Bobo don fall. He's a funny and playful guy sef, he asked for a pant and b*a picture of me and before I even sent it, he already sent 5k into my account as in I was shocked..." I interrupted her.
"Wait, you have a bank account?!"
"Seriously, you don't? Who doesn't have one these days?" Queen asked in surprise.
"I don't have o! What work am I doing that will earn me money. Mum keeps my money with Miss Supo" I explained.
"You're still a baby o! We all have an account and we bribe Mr Gboyega, the social studies teacher to help us collect it at the ATM" Queen explained.
To say I was surprised is an understatement, these girls were badder than some university girls sef, no wonder they spent anyhow in school, Queen even bought one thousand naira Suya one time like that.
"Mr Gboyega doesn't even teach us, how are you close with him?!" I asked.
"The man acts like mumu now, just act friendly and give him five hundred naira, trust me when I say he'll do it neatly, no worries!" Peace replied me this time.
"Its like you are living in a world different from ours. So where does Ore send money into since you don't have an account?" Fumbi asked in mockery.
"Money kwa? Fumbi, shey that one that is probably collecting Tiwa's own join, where he wan see money?" Peace said laughing.
I was embarrassed.
"That's a lie, he doesn't ask me for money, he even buys me drinks and snacks during breaks" I said proud of my boyfriend.
They all bursted into laughter, including Queen.
"By drink and snack, you mean Zobo drink and donut which both amounts to just hundred naira?!" Peace said again.
She was just enjoying humiliating me but before I could say anything, Queen decided to do so on my behalf,
"You girls should stop it now, its not funny o. Its even amazing enough that he spends hundred naira, how much did Tobi and Kunle spent for you when you were dating them?" She asked referring to Peace.
Peace shut her mouth in embarrassment while I smiled.
And just like that, I was part of the group again.
