Chapter 30

It was finally Valentine's Day, the day to show love, shower each other with gifts, blah blah blah!

This day is mainly a day for show off and unnecessary noise in RPHS. Every girl anticipates what her crush or boyfriend will get get for her while they themselves do not bother it make any effort to get anything for the guys.

I chose to be different by making a beautiful handmade card and writing a beautiful message in it, Queen said I was been childish but I actually didn't mind.

I was not an adult anyways, so I should be allowed to act like the kid that I was.

The class was very noisy when we walked in, everyone seemed to have something to talk about.

I rushed towards Ore's locker and slipped the card in it, he was never punctual anyways.

"Queen, there's an anonymous letter hidden in your locker" Fumbi announced as soon as she sighted us.

I couldn't help but wonder what she was also looking for in Queen's locker anyways, busybody.

"Definitely a love message, no doubt! I'm not reading shits like that, boys with no liver, if he had balls, he would walk up to me and tell me what he feels. I despise secret admirers. Meanwhile, where is Peace? I didn't set my eyes on her throughout the weekend, did she go home?" Queen asked

"She hasn't been herself for a while now and she refused to confide in Zainab and I, I'm fed up of pestering her" Fumbi said nonchalantly.

"Hasn't been herself? Is she sick? No wonder I feel like she was avoiding me these days. Where is she sef?" Queen asked looking genuinely worried.

"I don't know for her o" Fumbi replied and left us alone.

"What did you think the problem could be?" Queen directed at me.

"I have no idea but I'm sure it's not that much of a big deal" I shrugged.

"Senior Tiwa! Long time no see! You didn't even ask of me." Seun walked into my class bubbling with excitement.

"Seun, we talked last week, stop exaggerating" I replied simply as I went through my locker but found nothing.

So I have no secret admirers? Not even a little gift from my boyfriend? Maybe Queen was right, I shouldn't have spent my whole weekend working on a stupid cheesy handmade card for him, I guess I was not that important.

"Did you girls hear the latest gist?" Seun began.

I knew that she didn't just come into the Seniors' block this early morning just to greet me.

"Please, I don't want to hear more of the letter that Miss Monioluwa found on her table, that news don cast!" Queen said dismissively while Seun rolled her eyes.

Wait, I didn't even hear about that one, why was I always the last person to know about these juicy gists?

But then I was not surprised, it was definitely an anonymous Senior school boy, the boy could even be my classmate, these boys can do anything.

Who will they even punish since the boy probably didn't even write his name on it? And knowing Miss Monioluwa's cheerfulness, she probably just laughed about it. She doesn't take things too serious, I like her.

"No, Senior Queen, it's not even that one. Do you know Miss Falola, the junior school business studies teacher, that short dark skinned woman?" Seun describes while Queen and I nodded.

"Yes, she got proposed to during the weekend by .... drumrolls, please?" She said with excitement.

"Just tell us abeg!" Queen snapped impatiently.

"Mr Obadipe, your English language Teacher!" Seun concluded.

We gasped.

So those two were dating?

"Whaoh! A lady actually agreed to marry that lazy man? Are they planning on surviving on the meagre salary that the school management pays them? That man that has body odor sef! Tue!" Queen blabbed with disgust as if she was the one that was proposed to.

"Everything doesn't revolve around money, Queen" I said.

"It does, please. Gone are the days that they say that money can't buy happiness, these days, money can buy everything. Don't even try to convince me otherwise"

Until they use your pant because of too much love for money.

"It's okay o! But Seun, how did you get to know about this though? I asked.

"I overheard other teachers congratulating and teasing Miss Falola when I helped Mrs Sorunke to carry her bag to her desk"

"Your amebo will not get you into trouble one day, reporter Seun! Now that you have delivered your news, go to your class na, abi you are already surveying for news that you can carry to your class too?" I joked.

"But Senior Tiwa, where's your own rose? Abi nobody gave you a gift ni, don't you have a val?" I knew that she would still say something pertaining to that, this girl!

"Abeg, leave!" I snapped at her.

"Sorry na! Somebody cannot even be curious in peace again. And me, I was still angry at my best friend that gave me a rose she got from the tree outside our school gate not knowing that there are some people like you that did not even get common stone!" She mocked further while Queen chuckled.

"This girl is funny" Queen said still laughing.

"Oya, go away! You can't come and be mocking me in my classroom!" I snapped as I shoved her out of the class.

I don't know how I even got to be so close with that stubborn girl.

"But to be sincere though, Ore couldn't even leave a text message for you? And you're very sure that you guys are still dating or it's just you that is still dating him?" Queen asked.

"What's the difference?"

"Ah! You ought to be dating each other o not just you dating him, that's one sided" Queen joked while I just laughed even though it wasn't wholehearted.

" I guess he forgot" I defended.

"Forget what? Valentine's Day? Even if he wanted to forget, all these paparazzi in our school will not allow him to, everything screams Valentine! Look at Boiling ring for example, he intentionally brought a read face towel as a symbol even through it doesn't match our uniform" Queen jokes even further while I laughed again, wholeheartedly this time.

"All these rose and cardboards don't even freak me, I woke up to an alert of 5k on my account from the love of my life and that is better than all these stupid junks that will end up in the trash can!" Queen boasted.

So the 5k too wouldn't be used to buy junks that'll end up in the trash can or just food that'll end up in the toilet too?

"Okay! Show is over! You guys have had enough time to greet each other and exchange gifts so let's start our class, I'm not like the other teacher that allowed you to have his period for stupid things like this! Studying is important! And today isn't a public holiday or a class free day!" Miss Bamijo shouted to get our attention while the whole class grunted.

This woman likes to work too much, it was no wonder she was not even tall.
