My pupils trembled slightly, and my rebuttal was stuck in my throat. My mind was far from calm.
The Alpha King's selection was right in front of us, and if Luke could become my partner before that, he would gain even more power because of the Fated Mate bond. It was clear that it had already taken effect. A few days after he marked me, Luke had the strength to defeat and absorb the Pasquale Pack into his own, which he had been hostile with for many years.
Although the Ironclad Pack wasn't particularly powerful, our vast territory made us his next target.
No! That's impossible! Why was I suddenly believing Gabriel's words? My thoughts became confused again, and I pinched my thigh hard to try to clear my mind. The sudden pain helped me regain some clarity.
