Outside, Beverly shifted nervously, glancing between them and the road back to town.
“Hermione, I think I’ll head back now,” Beverly murmured, her voice low. “If Cain gets wind of where I am, he might lash out at my family too.”
“It’s alright, don’t worry. We’re away from the chaos now, so we’ll be fine,” Hermione answered, giving Beverly a light embrace. “Take care on the road home, okay? Call me if something happens there.”
