As I and Chris drove to Stella’s house, I kept replaying the conversation with Nicolas in my head. The way he looked at me, the coldness in his voice when he talked about getting rid of the baby. It was as if everything we had shared meant nothing to him in the end. And that realization stung more than I could bear.
