The next morning, I awoke with a pounding headache, my eyes swollen from crying through the night. My heart still ached, but my resolve was steely now. As I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I saw the image of a woman who had loved but had been betrayed, but definitely not defeated. As I applied makeup on, a thought began to form, clear and sharp like a blade. Nicolas wasn’t going to walk away from this unscathed. If he wanted to play games, I’d show him exactly who he was dealing with. My phone rang, half hoping it to be Nicolas, but Chris's name appears. We were meeting for a coffe date. I knew Chris still wanted me, but I don't feel like I deserve him. It was time i told him to forget me for good. --- Across the city, Nicolas sat at the edge of his bed in the same hotel room. H
