As I walked out, I felt the adrenaline pulsing through me, each step reinforcing my resolve. Nicolas’s desire had slipped through, however brief, and I knew I had nudged a wall he had so carefully built between us. I could feel his inner turmoil, the pull he tried to fight, but it would only be a matter of time before he came to terms with it. Once outside, I leaned against the wall, taking a deep breath, allowing myself a small smile. The thrill of his touch still lingered on my skin, a reminder of what we had, of what he could have again if he would just let go. I knew he felt it too; he was only too afraid to let it show.
