Chapter 5Tris parked his bike against the detached garage and crossed the yard to Andrew’s front porch. He yawned and rubbed a hand over his cropped hair. As he climbed the steps and pulled open the screen door, he hoped Andrew had made coffee. He’d woken late with only enough time to dress and say hi to Katherine before rushing over. His eyes felt gritty and he yawned again. Maybe Andrew could spare a slice of toast. He hadn’t had time to eat, either. “Anyone home?” he called on his way through the living room. “Back here.” The heavenly aroma of coffee and bacon lingered as he passed through the kitchen, and his mouth watered.
