Chapter 9: Awakened

2456 Words
~Unknown P.O. V~             The king had summoned me to his castle within the next few days and I hadn’t had a clue as to why. I didn’t break any rules today, yet. Maybe he found out about the border cross. Gasping, he knows, oh god he knows. I never meant to, I was just following a flock of birds and lost where I was for a moment. Or… Maybe he found out about my horde? Most dragons collect gold and gems. Why did I have to be weird and collect river stones? Sure, they are not as pretty or valued as gold and jewels, but they are still pretty to look at. I groaned in frustration. The worst I have done is burn a human when he intruded on my territory, was that why?             What do you think, Fang? Fang: How the hell should I know? I’m stuck in your head, remember? Oh, wait, you haven’t flown in months! Asshole let me out and let me stretch my wings, damnit!             Jeez, alright, alright. Let me get to a safe location, jerk. I wound my way through trees to get deeper in the forest and next to water. Knowing Fang, he will want to drink first. After all, he is a water dragon. Once I found what I needed, I shifted into my dragon. His appearance was terrifying at first, glowing yellow eyes, white scales with blue accents, his tail long and thinned out at towards the end, his wings made of water which would sometimes cause rain in the area I flew in. All in all, he blended with the clouds and nearly impossible to spot unless you were truly looking for him. His height was bigger than a wolf’s. Those dumb mutts wouldn’t know what it means to have fangs and talons, and they’re weak to boot. I could take on a pack and wipe them out, our king however, could take on 15 packs and still win. I retreated to the back of the mind and let him have full control.   ~Quinn’s P.O. V~ “So… That was… The Goddess of the Moon…” I was in disbelief when she came down like that, it was almost frightening the way she did it. So much light and confidence radiated off her like a powerful aura. “Yep. She is as beautiful as was described.” Adam spoke up. “Yes, she could make Anika look… Never mind. The divine always had higher charisma then those they create.” Matthew got up from kneeling. “Are you saying she is more beautiful than my sister?!” I growled at him. “Of course not. She appears that way. However, her inner thoughts betrayed her voice. She wishes for Mr. Davis to win Anika’s favor. Whereas his highness wishes for a draconic lover. I have spent time with Miss. Anika and let me tell you both,” He turns to look at both of us, “I intend to marry her. You do not know how powerful she is as a human like I do. Neither you nor this new suiter can comprehend who Anika is, Davis Mutt.” “Easy, gentleman, you are still in my house. Come!” Nathaniel ordered. The three of us followed him. We got back to Anika’s room and she was still out. I checked my phone time again. It was nearly 2 pm, I guess it was time to wake my sister up. “Can you all please leave? I need time with my twin alone.” I heard scoffs and could almost feel eye rolls. I sat next her and looked at her peaceful, resting face. So much has happened, and yet more things are still to come. The door closed and I took a breath. “Anika, I will tell you everything when you wake up. I promise.” I took her hand, just then, I felt a wave of electricity flow through us, as if it were restarting her body back to life. Then I saw her eyes flutter open.   ~Anika’s P.O. V~             In my darkened state, I felt a hand on mine, hoping it was Matthew’s. What came next was a surprise, it felt like electricity coursed through my body in the most painful way. I could feel every blood cell jolt back to life, every nerve beginning to pulsate in me. I had not felt this much pain save for one time. After the pain subsided, I opened my eyes to see Quinn next to me. His eyes filled with worry and delight. “Hey, sleeping beauty. Enjoy your nap?” He teased as he wiped a tear. “Could have been better.” I sat up and looked around. I couldn’t tell where we were, but this room was huge. Banners of dragons were littered on the walls; the floor was shinning like a river of silver and a red carpet to match. The door had a dragon sitting and holding a rose that was made of gold. The bed had dragon pillars at each end in a roaring stance. In other words, this room was fit for a princess. “Where are we? How did you find me?” “We are in a castle that in in a volcano. How I found you, well, ask our biological father.” His expression turned hard and his face contorted to anger. “Mom hid a lot from us.” “Is this going to explain the whole ‘3 souls, one body’ thing?” I ask a bit aggressively. “Yes. Now, shut up and listen.” “Fine.” I rolled my eyes. Sure, I was happy to see my brother, but that didn’t make him less annoying. “Earlier today, mom came to my apartment, right before that, I gained scales and I freaked out. Mom told me and Adam that you and I are werewolf hybrids. One of a kind according to her and Nathaniel.” He scoffs and turns to the door. “Dragon/Werewolf to be specific. Mom had said that her and Nathaniel were mates. They didn’t reject each other, they just lived away from each other. Oh, and get this, you are going to hate this.” He slicks his hair back in frustration, “Jacob, the man who raised us, apparently had his memories manipulated and he was told by mom that we were his.” My mouth dropped; mom had done all of that to dad? No, I couldn’t believe it. I won’t believe that. She was never… I was so confused, angry and hurt. Why would mom do that? It just didn’t make sense to me. “Why? What did they gain from doing this?!” I yelled. “Apparently mom would have been killed and Nathaniel helped her hide away.” God does every supernatural hate humans and hybrids that much?! I would call each of them racist, but that wouldn’t be the right term, more like speciest. “Speciests…” “Speciests? Is that even a word, Ana?” He chuckled a little. “It is now.” I sighed, “So, because we are part dragon and part wolf, we get 2 new voices in our heads?” “So, it seems. Cobra and Azurite are at odds with each other. I still don’t fully understand it myself.” “Viper and Pearl are the same way.” I looked at him with curiosity, “Is Cobra extremely aggressive?” “Yes, he is. Why?” We locked eyes with each other. “Viper is too. Is that a Dragon thing? They are just always angry?” I saw his eyes glaze over and his voice deepens. “We are not always angry, we are very possessive, though. And we hate the smell of mutts.” I guess this was Cobra talking. The feeling was both strange and natural. “Imagine my surprise when I found out I share a mind with one of them.” “Cobra, I am going to ask you this nicely and just once; please bring Quinn back?” I heard a deep snarl building in his chest. “Cobra! I will not hesitate to put you down!” I yelled at him while keeping my own eyes locked on his slit highlighter green ones. “Yes, ma’am.” He grumbled, “Only because I know you could kick my ass.” He retreated and Quinn’s eyes were back to the normal green color and full pupils. “They can do that?! That is against my will.” “It seems they can. We will have to watch out for our dragon counterparts.” I crossed my arms in disbelief. “There is something, Ana… Something that concerns you and only you…” He looked melancholy as his eyes wondered down to the floor. “So, spill it. What?” “Matthew and Adam… Well…” He rubbed the back of his neck. “Adam was your destined mate and I know you were engaged to Matthew.” “Oh, icing on the f*****g cake. Adam? The guy who ran away from me when I met him is my f*****g mate?!” “Was. The Moon Goddess revoked the bond and…” He groaned a little, “And Matthew can’t marry you now. At least not yet. I hate that blood sucker for stealing you away. Nathaniel is technically our dad and he had a mate for both of us as well. In other words, The Moon Goddess broke the blood contract between the Vampyres and Nathaniel. So, you have three men who will want you for themselves.” He laid back and rubbed his face in frustration. He only did this when he didn’t know how to deal with his anger. He truly was pissed off, I however, was beyond pissed off. I was livid, I was beyond livid if there was a word for it. I jumped out of the large bed and went to the door. “Ana, what are you doing?” “Shut up! I have bones to pick. Stay, come, I don’t care, but I am furious!” I grabbed the door handle and flung the golden doors open, knocking one hinge off. I couldn’t control myself; I saw the three men leaning on the wall, and I gave each of them a back handed slap. “The hell was that for?” Adam looked at me with shock. “Ow… My love, why did you…” Matthew was rubbing his face. “Anika… You better have a…” “Shut up! All of you! I cannot believe any of you!” I cut them off. “The blood pact! What was it for?!” “I see Quinn told you that part. It was for you and Matthew to be wed.” I slapped him again. “You sold me off?!” I saw him rubbing his jaw with wide eyes. “You claim to be my father and yet you sold me?! What kind of father does that?!” I flailed my arms in the air. My anger only fueled by more anger. He took a heavy sigh, “You were never supposed to be born, Anika. I never intended to keep the pact.” I shook my head and turned to Adam, “And you! You knew I was your mate and you ran?! What the hell was wrong with you?!” My hatred for wolves was about to come out. “I panicked. I never thought a human would be my mate. And you would not have believed me.” He tried defending himself. I wasn’t about to let it go, however. “You’re damn right I wouldn’t have. But at least you would have told the truth! Either way, I would have to come around to believing at least the werewolf part!” I was so fed up with the men in my life. “Did Quinn know what you are?!” “Yes. He found out about a year ago.” I scoffed and shook my head. Everyone has been lying to me. Every f*****g one. Except maybe my dad, Jacob. Who is innocent in all this. “I can’t believe you all lied to me.” I looked at Matthew next. I loved him, but oh I am furious with him too. “Did you know I was a dragon? Is that why you kept telling me everything would be okay?” “What? Love, no. I had no clue as to who you were.” Matthew put up his hands in defeat. “Did you know about the blood pact?!” My anger kept rising. I was about to break something or someone. “No. Not until this morning.” He answered. “Oh, bullshit! Your kind always have to tell lies! If your father made that pact then you would have known!” Adam shouted at Matthew. “I said shut up! I am talking! I am asking the questions!” Once again, I used my voice and it shook the castle walls, making the chandeliers above us jingle. The guys immediately shut their mouths. “Is that the truth, Matthew? You honestly did not know?” “It is. Had I known; I would have sought you out sooner.” I could tell in his voice that he was sincere. I shook my head again and turned away from them. I needed a break from men, from anyone really. I was too pissed off to deal with them right now. “Where are your gardens?” I demanded. “Young lady, I am your father, you will address me with respect. Look at me when I am talking to you!” Nathaniel demanded back. “Oh! Now we want to play father?!” I turned back to him. “You had 19 years to have that role!” He reached for me, I grabbed his arm and threw him on his back, cracking the floor underneath him as he groaned in pain. “I’ll figure it out myself.” I let go of him and walked away from all the men.
