ZARA’S POV
I was confused. On one hand was Kieran. He was loyal, devoted, honourable. Then there was Killian. Savage, untamed, wild. And yet perfect.
I could feel myself slipping from my plans. I hadn’t trained in a long while. A good number of years even. Alec hated his women overly strong, and I had done everything to fit that criteria.
Such a fool I was. A big one at that.
I walked to the packs training ground, a troupe of guards behind me. It was annoying as hell but Kieran had a glib tongue that could make a person succumb. He was scared I would be hurt so I agreed to one guard. Now one guard turned ten.
Ignoring their existence as best as I could, I matched in. The entire place grew silent as all eyes landed on me. Quite frankly, I was used to it. The taunts, the whispers, the looks and all. I truly didn’t give a damn about any of them.
“You seem too docile and petite to be here” a voice rang out by my side and as expected, all the guards behind me responded to the ‘threat’.
I turned to see a lady, probably around my age, held down and about to be smacked. Her words weren’t what moved me, but the look in her eyes.
“Stop!” My voice rang out as I held up my hands to stop them. I walked to her as I stooped down.
Her gaze was fierce as she looked at me with a smile on her face. That was the kind of smile that made you wonder this person’s next line of action. She would make a good ally.
Or a challenging nemesis. I had to keep her by my side.
“What’s your name?” I asked as I raised her face up with my fingers and slowly looked at her face. Sharp features, grey eyes. Pouty lips, she looked like someone from a mixed race as she had one elf ear and one normal ear.
A changeling. Creatures with elf blood running through them.
“I never thought I would set my eyes on one of you in my entire life”
“So you can what? Drain my blood and make yourself look much younger”
“Heavens no!!!” I laughed out at the sarcasm that spilled out of her tone, I didn’t blame her though. This wasn’t the first time I had come across such a rumor.
“Who amongst your parents were elves, your father or your mother?”
“Again none of your damned business motherfucker!”
Feisty, I can do feisty.
“At least I am not the one held down by guards”
“If you were truly worth anything, you wouldn’t need a horde of guards trolling you”
Oh. So she wants to play. Then play we shall. I might not have hundred percent of my strength first but I knew I could beat a changeling hands down in a fist combat.
“Then why don’t you show me what you got” I smirked as I accepted her challenge. I wouldn’t truly have my place anywhere if I allowed s**t. Or hid behind a man once more.
I would never allow that mistake.
“Your highness. Alpha Kieran specifically said…”
“I will be fine” I motioned the guard to keep quiet as I extended a hand to her.
Grabbing my hand, she stood up as she shot a kick directly at my face. Typical changeling stance.
I quickly dodged the kick as I shoved her leg aside. Her stance was sloppy but her precision and observation technique were perfect. It was enough to make up for the lack of strength.
She kept on throwing blows and kicks while I defended each attack.
“Your movements are sloppy. Try to learn your opponents moves before you advance”
“Leave me alone and fight”
“Will you be able to handle it?”
“Shut up and fight”
“If you say so”
Since she wanted it, then I would gladly give it to her. Not all my might per say. But just enough to gain at least a little bit of respect in this goddamn pack.
I tore off the trail on my dress to enable my movements more. My silver scars visible to everyone present there.
I heard everyone’s exclamations as they all gazed at the scars. Normal scars were okay for everyone. But silver scars were never seen. It all looked more like tattoos. Even I didn’t know why they took that form.
But no matter, I had a fight to win.
I rushed to her as I twisted her outstretched arms behind her and pulled her down. She tried to back kick me but I used one hand to hold both her hands and the other to hold her feet. Disabling her in two fell swoop. And I didn’t even break a sweat.
“Do you have anything else to say?” I asked as she wriggled her body in my hold. I raised my head and coldly stared at everyone there. Calculating. Waiting for at least one person to speak up.
“I can see you want to make your stand Angel”
His voice boomed from behind me as his coat dropped on my shoulders. “I hate when other people see you and you know that”
His guards took the girl from my arms as he took me in his embrace. I watched as everyone who had once stood there cowered in fear. That was what I wanted. For people to tremble whenever they saw me.
The guards roughly held her as they planned to whisk her away.
“Release her.”
“But she challenged you. Why would you seek mercy for a mere changeling?”
“Release her”
She would be the perfect ally if I molded her well. But of course so would never let them know of my move. Thankfully Kieran wasn’t one to question my decisions and wants.
He gave his men the order to release her and take her to change before she would officially meet with me again. Typical Kieran.
“And as for you…” He turned me to face him.
“You are in trouble for allowing another man see what’s mine”
His voice came out gruff as he lifted me up and placed me on his lap and made his way to his chambers.
