Chapter 16

755 Words
Eero- Present Day I can’t explain it but I’ve been on edge all day. My wolf is pacing. Run. We never enjoy coming to Aurora Falls. Especially Squares, it's a reminder of my past. I worked my way up and built my empire from the ground up. Racing cars, fighting, and selling drugs is where I started. I’ve been hustling since I was 13. When I bought Squares at 18 it afforded me the ability to build my wealth and diversify. I expanded into real estate and over the years have made successful investments and grown my net worth significantly. Squares and Aurora Falls remind me of where it started and what I had to do to rise up. I’m here because my manager called me last night. Some human overdosed in the bathroom. We need to sell this place. I’ve kept this place because it’s a s**t stain on Aurora Falls, it encompasses all of the depravity of small towns. Fighting, gambling, drinking, drugs, prostitution. For some reason, I feel like if I can manage the level of depravity allowed, I am doing the town a favor. You won’t sell it because you still feel guilty about Trent Richards. It’s your own purgatory. “Grant got demolished.” I overhear one of the patrons telling my bartender. “I wish I would have been there to see it.” Alpha Grant? That guy is a pompous ass, I wish I would have been there to see it too, if that's whom they are talking about. “I’ve never seen so many alphas falling over themselves.” The wolf continues. “Was she cute?” Mark, my bartender inquires. My wolf’s ears perk up. She? “Tiny little brunette, great boobs. 10 out of 10 would hit that.” Both the patron and Mark laugh. “What are you idiots talking about?” I call from the end of the hall. “Kamden Smith showed up at the solstice with a sigma.” Mark supplies. A sigma? My wolf and I instantly feel challenged. It is the solstice weekend, which is why Squares has been filled up with more drugs and drama than normal. Wolves from all over come in for these stupid celebrations. “A she-wolf?” Impossible. I ask even though I know how unlikely that is. “Yeah.” The patron says. “Huge white wolf, tiny little girl.” He laughs. “What’s her name?” I bark. “Don’t know, she sort of reminded me of that crazy girl he dated back in the day. This girl was way hotter though.” Zoe and Ava Richards. Trent Richards's daughters. Twins in the wolf world are as rare as they are weird, identical twins are even rarer. They are given identical wolves. So, if one twin is a gamma the other twin is a gamma. Identical twins mate with the same person. It's weird but is so rare in the wolf world you rarely hear about it. But after the night I had with Zoe Richards, I stuck around, waiting till she turned 18 to see if there was anything there. My wolf had such a strong attachment to her. Her smell was like a beacon from half a mile away. I could feel her emotions like they were my own. She hadn’t even gotten her wolf yet and I was tracking her, hunting her, ready to lay claim to what was mine. The morning she told me to leave her the f**k alone. I listened. I beat myself up for taking some 17-year-old girl's virginity but at the same time, I had convinced myself she was my mate. But she was also the daughter of one of my fighters who had just died a pretty gruesome tragic death and her sister owed one of my guys a huge debt. The whole situation was a mess but I stayed and made sure she wasn’t my mate when I scented her gamma. I washed my hands and memory of her. Liar. Okay, okay. I suppose that is a lie. My d**k twitched thinking about her every so often. You mean every solstice, any hot summer day, every time you go to the Falls, every time you are inside another girl? So, yeah I have thought about her a little. Shut up, man. But she and her sister were gammas, they weren’t my mates. Except you heard the man she’s a sigma. We don’t know if it’s her or not. Let’s go check.
