Damien opens the door and looks at me.
I am already on my feet.
Rhys is still in the room when I come in, standing near the window, not quite meeting my eyes when I sit down. The weight of what he has just delivered is still in the room.
“Tell me,” I say.
Damien sits. “The Greyveil’s original custodial filing on Mara Sinclair,” he says. “Rhys found the full council application. The condition they invoked, the arguments they made, the evidence they presented.” He pauses. “They did not invoke the first or second condition.”
“The third,” I say.
“Yes. They argued her bonded mate lacked the demonstrated capacity to ensure bond completion. They presented a medical history. A documented pattern of withdrawal from the bond process. Multiple failed appointments with bond facilitators.”
