Eyes closed, I massaged my forehead with my fingertips.
“Cahl,” I said. “I hope you’re okay.”
I pressed the appropriate button and ended my conversation with the werewolf’s voicemail.

My eyes fell on the curled up Mallok not far from me. The room seemed oddly empty with just the two of us.
“You don’t mind not regaining your human form?”
Mallok looked up at me.
“No. I'm freer in this form.”
I raised an eyebrow and couldn’t help the mocking smile on my lips at that moment.
