CHAPTER TWELVE
Roxy and I were back in my kitchen, and I was feeding her carrot cake with one hand and giving her sips of milk with the other.
It was her favorite dessert, besides me, she said.
I was finding it hard to concentrate with her l*****g frosting off my hand every few seconds.
“I’ll never be accepted as your girlfriend, Buck,” Roxy suddenly said. “Katie Jo and Melody are the tip of the iceberg in this town. Right now, all I am is tarnish to your sterling reputation.”
“No, you’re not. Everyone has a past. It’s going to be okay.”
“How can it possibly be okay?” Roxy said while snuggling a sleeping Lola up to her cheek.
“Because I’m going to fix it. Let’s put Lola in her carrier for a nap.” I pulled Roxy up by the hand. “I know what you require to feel better.”
