Chapter 2 - Run away bride 1

"Your wedding is tomorrow; congratulations,"John said.

"Thank you. Finally, Mira will be mine," Akihiro replied happily.

Akihiro had a secret crush on Mira, so he was happy when he learned of their arranged marriage.

Time pass by; in the middle of the bustling city, Cj arrived first at Carlo's condo. A few moments later, someone knocked.

"I'll open the door," Cj said. "Did you get the... uyy, Jiro!", he said in surprise.

"Good to see you, come in" Jiro said happily.

"Bro Jiro!?.. I thought you were in the mission field?", Carlo asked excitedly as he hugged the newcomer.

"My superior went on leave and gave me a one month vacation so he'd have someone to go home with him to the north. He's a secondary sponsor in a wedding tomorrow. But we feel sorry for the bride, it's an arranged marriage and she's not happy about it," Jiro explained.

"What a poor bride if that's the case. Should we disrupt their wedding and have Alex run away the bride?", Cj said sarcastically.

"Who's getting married?", Brix asked.

Because of their conversation, they didn't notice their other friends arriving.

"Where are you guys going? Why do you have suitcases and ..?", Jiro asked curiously.

"To the Pacific Ocean," they all said in unison.

"Your vacation is perfect, bro, you can join us," Jay said with a smile.

"Oh, wow!... You're all on leave?", Jiro asked.

"My boss's father died and went back to Japan, he gave me a 2-month vacation. So I'm free," Cj explained.

"For me, just a wink at my boss and he immediately agreed. Gamitin ang kaguwapuhan minsan," Brix said proudly.

"Edi ikaw na! You're the boyfriend of your own CEO," Jay said jokingly.

"So all is well, we're all here. We leave at 8 am tomorrow, we'll be at sea for a month, guys," Jade said seriously.

"Alex, aren't you bringing any girls?", Brix asked.

"No."

"My dad told me to fix my life. He's seriously ill at ayaw kong maging pabigat sa kanya." Jade replied.

"So I'll try to change," he added.

"Alex, okey ka lang? I'm not used to you being like this," Carlo asked worriedly.

Jiro stood up and put his hand on Jade's forehead.

"Bro, you don't have a fever. Seryoso ka?", Jiro asked.

"I'm Jaiden Alexis Alejandro, I promise to change," Jade said seriously, followed by his loud laughter.

"Akala ko totoo na.", Carlo said seriously.

"So, dito na kayo matutulog ngayong gabi?", Carlo asked.

"I'll go home first, bro, see you at the pier tomorrow. I still have paperwork at home." Jade replied.

The night passed quickly, it was the day of Mira and Akihiro's wedding. Many people attended their wedding. The bridal march played, Mira walked towards the altar with a gloomy expression while Akihiro's smile was ear to ear as he watched Mira.

A moment later, the wedding ceremony began.

"Akihiro De Leon, do you accept Princess Mira Guevara as your wife? Will you take care of her, respect her, understand her, and not hurt her as long as she lives?", the pastor asked.

"I gladly accept, pastor.", Akihiro replied happily.

"Princess Mira Guevara, do you accept Akihiro De Leon as your husband? Will you take care of him, respect him, understand him, and not hurt him as long as he lives?", the pastor asked Mira.

Mira didn't answer, she just stood there. Two minutes passed.

People started asking each other what was happening.

"Mira, anong ginagawa mo!?", Senior Guevara asked angrily.

"Lord, sorry", she said tearfully.

"I'm sorry, pastor... sorry Akie but we need to cancel this wedding. You know, hindi kita mahal!...

So we must stop this wedding!", Mira said as she ran out of the church. As she was leaving, a taxi passed by. They chased after Mira but she was already gone.

"Saan kita ihahatid anak?" the driver asked. "Anywhere, mag drive lang po kayo", Mira replied tearfully.

"Anak, huwag ka umiiyak, masisira ang ganda mo kung umiiyak ka.", Tatay Kanor said with concern.

"Alam mo napaka swerte ko ngayon, sa wakas may sumakay na rin na bride sa taxi na pinapasada ko", the old man said laughing.

"Run away bride naman po", Mira replied tearfully.
