Elijah's Point of View I wake up to find the bed empty and I quickly sit up. "Kathryn?" I throw my legs over the edge of the bed and quickly make my way into our adjoining bathroom. But it's empty. I make my way down the hall and stop in front of Colton's bedroom door, slowly pushing it open. I see Kathryn sitting on the edge of Colton’s bed, just watching him sleep. His small nightlight glows in the corner, the only light illuminating the room. I watch her gently brushing his hair back from his face, and I don't miss the way her hand trembles slightly.
