The Storm Is Coming

Bruce's POV Finding my mate f*****g the Alpha was definitely not on my radar, but I'm not going to complain. It was like he wasn't even there after the bond kicked in. That night, we mated and marked each other, and my world has undergone a complete change since. I no longer care about other females, pack politics, or even Alpha Alex's vendetta against Ryley... To be completely honest, I'm not exactly sure why he cares too much about her. She's two steps away from being a rogue she-wolf that has nothing going for her. Yeah, we used her for the pack's gain when treating guests, but we can always find others... or he can stop being a piece of s**t and using unmated females for personal gain. I found Alex in his office, furious, going over a huge stack of paperwork. I stepped towards him just enough to see what it was... Alpha Sean pulled out of the trade agreement we so desperately needed. A pit formed in my stomach... I know what this is about; he knows what this is about. It's about Ryley. "Son of a f*****g b***h!" he exclaimed. "Why can't that musty b***h keep her nose out of pack business? I'm going to rip her throat out myself." "And how exactly do you plan on doing that, boss? Sean is the most feared Alpha for a reason. It's not like trespassing is going to be a walk in the park. As a matter of fact, I can attest to it!" "We strike in two weeks' time. Start training the warriors double time. Whoever is too weak is demoted to Omega status and is to work the grounds." "Do you really think that is the best option? And only two weeks? Alex... this is going to be the biggest war of our lifetime. Packs will form alliances with either side." "Are you scared, Bruce?" He asked as he stood and stalked towards me. "No. Not in the least bit. But I am worried you're taking this too far. And not to mention..." "Say it." "You started this. You treat your pack members like they're expendable. Without them, you have nothing. Not a damn thing!" "Get the f**k out of my office!" "f**k you. Savannah and I are out of here. I'm not going to join in on your bullshit anymore." "So be it... Rogue." With that, I stormed out of the office and mind-linked Savannah 'Stop what you are doing and start packing. We're leaving now.' 'What happened??' 'I'll explain later.' I finally reached my suite and started throwing clothes into bags, not wasting time on folding and packing neatly. I wanted to be as far away from this s**t hole as possible when Alex decided to take me out. Which, knowing him, is really any minute. Shortly after, Savannah joined me. She didn't know what exactly what was going on, but she knew if I am packing like this to put some pep in her step and get moving. Within thirty minutes, we had all of our belongings packed in bags and the bags loaded in the car. Luckily for us, I didn't opt for one of the pack-owned vehicles. We drove as fast as possible to the edge of the border, not stopping to say goodbye to friends or warriors I fought next to for years. Just then, a thought dawned on me... I have no idea where to go, and it's almost nightfall. f**k! "Any ideas on where to stay tonight? "Forget tonight, we can sleep in the truck. What about the rest of our lives? What about our lives??" "Tomorrow, first thing, we are heading to Violet Moon and speaking to Alpha Sean." "Ummm... Isn't that the Alpha that wants to rip you to shreds?" "Yes. And for good reason." "Yeah, that's a fantastic idea... Just commit suicide right after I find you. What a FANTASTIC idea!" "Baby, it's not like that. But he needs to know what's about to go down. Alex plans on mass g******e. He's out for bloodshed for his own foolishness." As the words roll off my tongue, I realize how much of a cluster f**k this is. "I really hope you know what you're doing... I can't lose you..." She said as she teared up. Just the thought of losing each other felt like daggers to the heart. I pulled into the first hotel I saw and parked. I turned to her and took her hands in mine, "Baby. I promise nothing bad will happen. He is going to be upset. And I may get my ass beat at first. But Alpha Sean is reasonable, considering the reputation he has... Especially when it concerns his mate and his pack." "I really hope so. I'm guessing he planned on killing everything in sight, and you had enough of his s**t?" "That sums it up lightly, but yes. Sean backed out of the trade deal he needed to get supplied to f**k his alliances after he saw, and I'm assuming he heard about what Alex did to Ryley. I never agreed with what he was doing... But I also didn't stop it either. I should have kept him in check..." "Babe. None of this is your fault. He is a grown wolf. He knows right from wrong, but he just assumes there are no consequences. I have a feeling he is about to learn otherwise." This woman is my ride-or-die. Now to see what comes tomorrow...
