Lila woke up to a pale sunlight slipping along the edges of the room. She rolled into her side searching for the familiar weight of Alevx’s hand wrapped around her but found none. Her eyes fluttered open as she blinked twice and found the bed and room empty. Where did he go? She asked with worries etched all over her face and it occurred to her that she now cares for Alex, but decided to wave the thought aside as soon as it came. At this moment, the event of the last night flooded her consciousness and it made her face flush “He did all that to me” she thought to herself and flushed even harder. “But where did he go?” She said even louder “Am right here babe” Alex's voice from the bathroom echoed slightly as he walked out with water dripping down to his chiselled chest and it made Lila subconsciously but her lips “I wasn't talking about you. I was speaking to my sister over the phone” “Your phone is here babe” Alex said, pointing to the phone at the far end of the bedside table “Good morning” Alex said as he walked closer, trying to embrace her “Ehhhm Alex” Lila said, as she pulled out of his embrace, still biting her lips, but Alex paid no attention to her refusal and walked closer with her moving backward till she got to the end of the wall “What are you doing?” “Nothing” he said with a mischievous smirk plastered on his face. “You should say ‘good morning’ to your lovely husband. You know that right?” He said, pulling his face closer, his breath reaching every part of her body. “okay” Lila said, pulling away from him “Now say it” Alex commanded in a romantic, yet dominant tone. “Good.. morning sir” Lila said with a flushed cheeks. “I am not your boss. You don't have to call me sir” he said, still drawing closer “Good morning Alex” she said, still pulling her face away as Alex's face drew closer “I refuse to be called by my name either” he said as he placed his both hands on the wall trapping Lila with his broad frame. “Huh…” Lila said, surprisingly “You heard me wifey. Give your husband a romantic name” Alex said as he continued his sweet torture. “Uhhmmm” “Listening..” “Ba..babe” Lila stuttered as she pronounced the word which seemed too heavy in her mouth “I can't hear you” Alex said “Good morning babe” Lila said with her face completely flushed “D*mn! What is he doing to me? And why is my body responding this way towards Mr grumpy?” Lila thought to herself as she tried to pull away from his enormous trap. “Wait!” That gentle but commanding voice spoke again and Lila froze in that position and licked her lips in a seductive manner that left Alex dumbstruck “What are you doing?” “Nothing. Can I go now?” Lila blurted out nonchalantly “Where are you going?” “To freshen up” “You don't have to. Breakfast is ready and there are some persons I would want you to meet” “Who are they ba..babe?” “My family” Lila froze for the upteenth time as she tries to process his words “You have a family?” “Yes babe” he said as he made his way to wear a casual dress “Let's go,” Alex said as he stretched out his hand for Lila to take. “Meet Lucas my brother, Max black my other brother and Ryan flick my best friend” Alex said, pointing at them during the formal introduction “Welcome to the family, Lila” they chorused. “Thank you” Lila said with a disinterested smile “There's no need, I am going to leave him as soon as my father's debt is paid. I don't need to meet any of his family” “Come sit here” Alex said as he pulled Lila between his legs leaving her astonished “Eat” Alex commanded “You don't have to look at your handsome husband that way” he muttered with a sly smile on his face Alex watched Lila as she ate and he enjoyed the way she devoured every bite in her mouth. He is not much of a food person, so seeing a person who ate this much gave him an unexplained pleasure. “Wifey,” he whispered “You have not bothered feeding your hungry husband. Am hungry, you know!”he muttered, sniffing her hair Lila's face flushed but she refused to give an obvious expression, since they were not the only ones at the dining table. Instantly, she picked a slice of meat and fed it to Alex “Hmmm. Thank you so much. You can continue eating” Alex urged as he played with her thick black hair. Lucas and Ryan exchanged glances at each other. The great Alexander Black acting all mushy around a woman, it was both strange and horrifying “Does this woman know who Alexander Black is? They exchanged glances as if doing a telepathic communication “Lila, can you tell us a bit about yourself? If your beloved husband does not mind” Ryan asked. “My name is Lila Kirk, a non practicing medical doctor and a wife to Alexander Black” Lila said with an utmost serious tone while gulping the food “You know for your size, you eat a lot” Max said playfully and laughed hysterically “Why are you not practicing?” Lucas asked “I am yet to get my practicing license, but I'll start as soon as I do” Lila answered as if it were an interview question “One more thing, has Alex told you who he really is?” “Ryan!” Alex called out “Oh sorry” Ryan said while demonstratingly zipping his mouth Lila looked at the faces of Alex's brothers and best friend. All dressed in black like they were not from this planet. From the looks of things, they live here “How come, I haven't seen any of you since I arrived?” I asked “Ehhmmm, we…,” they all stuttered, trying to arrive at a mutual answer “Babe, they've been out for a business trip. They just arrived. I can see you're done eating. You may go upstairs. I'll join you soon” Alex said and Lila stood up to leave with disappointment written all over her face “ He's always so dismissive of me” she muttered as she ascended the stairs “You know, you'll eventually have to tell her” Ryan pressed in “I don't get why you have to marry her as an atonement for her father's debt. You could have just left then alone” Lucas added “I like her, she's really pretty. I think she'll make a good wife” Max added in his usual playful tone “Go upstairs” Lucas and Ryan chorused with a piercing gaze. “The last I remembered, I am your boss so you don't get to tell me what to do” Alex said with a cold, unreadable expression “I married her because I wanted to. So it is everybody's responsibility to respect, cherish and protect her at all cost” Alex concluded “Is that clear?” he said, not waiting for a response before he headed upstairs “This is a big mistake,” Lucas whispered. “I can hear you” Alex shouted from the stairs “Oh! I forgot”
