As Alex drove back through the bustling streets, a thought suddenly crossed my mind. He glanced over at Ryan his brow furrowed
“Do you think she'll accept me if she finds out?”
Ryan stared blankly out of the window, lost in thought for a moment.
Then he turned to Alex and said
“Well, if she doesn't, we can just get another lady from the other world like we always do”
“I don't need another woman” Alex replied with a firm
“Bro, you really need to let her go. You know you aren't keeping her for her father's debt. Your life is far too complicated to marry a mortal”
Alex's grip tightened in the steering wheel, his knuckles turned white as he stared blankly into space, not minding if he is driving
His veins began to bulge, popping out of his hands as he struggled to process Ryan's words
“And not to mention,” Ryan continued
“She's yet to get your parents approval and you know what that means”
“And_” Ryan continued but before he could finish, Alex blurted out.
“Stop!” The abruptness of his voice cut through the air and Ryan immediately fell silence
Alex remained quiet as Ryan's voice echoed in his thoughts. He was making sense in a way he didn't want to admit
“She is better off without me,” he thought and he made his decision to let her go. She was going to have a hard and complicated life with him
Just then, his vehicle screeched to a stop. Alex looked through the tinted window and his breath stopped when he saw Lila standing before him.
Both him and Ryan looked at her in surprise
“How did she get out of the mansion?”
“I don't know” they communicated through telepathy
Without thinking, Alex flung open the door and bolted out of the car
Lila's expression shifted from shock to confusion as she saw Alex
Her eyes widened and for a moment, she looked frozen
As soon as she regained her senses, she began to apologize, her voice trembling
“I'm sorry Alex, I wasn't running away. I just wanted to take a walk”
Tears glistened in her eyes as she recounted the previous punishment she got for leaving the mansion.
“I…I was bored in that big mansion” Lila explained as she raised an eyebrow to gauge his reaction
In that moment, she reflected on how kind Alex had been good to her and felt a pang of guilt for her disobedience
Suddenly, Lila fell on her knees, her hands knotting together as she looked up at Alex vulnerably
“You can punish me if you want, but just don't give me a heavy punishment” she pleaded with a soft voice as she looked up and pouted her lips, giving him wide, shimmering puppy eyes.
Alex couldn't help but smile at how adorable she looked
“She's so beautiful, how could I ever think of letting her go” he said, the warmth in his heart surged, as he took in her expression
“Alex! Alex!” Ryan called out in a whisper
“Huh..?” Alex responded, jolting from his thoughts as if waking up from a dream
“Your… wife has been on the floor. Can you pass your verdict on the little princes”
Ryan said with a sly smile, clearly enjoying the moment
Without hesitation, Alex bent down and scooped her up, like a weightless object.
As he carried her into the car, he glanced at Ryan who was grinning from ear to ear
“Drive” Alex said as he settled Lila comfortably in the backseat
Alex and Ryan began to communicate telephatically
“Where are we going?” Ryan asked, glancing at the rearview mirror
“Drive to the hospital” Alex replied
“But she looks okay” Ryan countered, confusion etched on his face
“Do as I say” Alex fired back.
In the car, Alex pulled Lila close, his hands gently examining her arms and shoulders, ensuring she was okay
When they arrived at the hospital, Alex immediately carried her into the emergency ward as if he knew his way around the hospital.
A doctor appeared to attend to her
“Alex, am okay. The car didn't touch me, remember?” Lila blurted out
“Let's make sure of that” Alex replied as he caressed her hair, while the doctor checked her vitals
Once it was clear that Lila was indeed fine, Alex sat beside her on the hospital bed, wrapping his arms behind her a bit tightly
“Alex, you're pulling me too tight. I can't breathe” she said as she struggled for breath, wondering why Alex pulled her in too close
Alex let out a loud chuckle, releasing her from his tight embrace
“Sorry, I just wanted to make sure you are okay”
From a distance, Ryan watched the scene unfold. He wished he could communicate with Lucas and Micheal telepathically but they were too far away.
Taking out his phone, Ryan began to text them
“Little princess in the hospital” he typed and received a response almost immediately
“We're already in the hospital”
Shortly after, Lucas and Max arrived, joining Ryan as they observed Alex's soft and gentle demeanor with Lila
“He's never been that way with anyone” Lucas communicated
“I told you she's special” Max joined the telepathic communication
“Keep quiet” Ryan communicated
“This is not a good thing, Alexander black cannot afford to be soft; there's just so much to loose”
In that moment, a doctor entered the room
“I'm happy to report that Lila is fit to go home” he announced, glancing between Lila and alex..
Lila let out a sigh of relief
The doctor continued..
“Lila from your profile, I see that you're a doctor who isn't practicing. And you made excellent grades in med. school”
Lila's cheeks flushed slightly at the compliment and Alex's protective instinct flared up, but he remained silent.
“I'd like to extend an invitation for Lila to come work for me at the hospital”
Before Lila could respond, Alex interjected firmly
“My wife doesn't need to work for anyone” Alex said, his tone leaving no room for arguments
The doctor took out a card and handed it over to Lila
“Call me if you're interested”
He said as he left the room
