The crowd gathers before us, and I am standing way behind while Maddox addresses everyone. He asked for a meeting, despite it being the evening. I know he couldn't wait to do this, well neither could I. I keep my eyes on the lookout; I know that bastard will be here to watch how his masterpiece plays out. I just hope nothing goes wrong tonight.
“I am here to clear out the rumors,” he announces, his voice booming in the evening air. “I did find my mate, Jade. I know all of you expect me to reject her like you have been rejecting your mates, but I am sorry, I can't do that. Jade is my second chance mate; my first mate died, and now that I have a second, I am willing to let her go.”
