Helena was happy when she finally arrived at her dorm. She liked to have fun but hated when she overdrank, making her, in the following morning, having to undo the puzzle of the events that happened the night before, mostly when some parts fogged, making her regret it all. She loves to go out and have fun, but she had decided to take her studies seriously. The idea of the freedom she would have with a diploma in her hands, not depending on her family and their shady business, was all she dreamed. Late that evening, Cristina and Sam had already left the room with defeated expression after their failure in convincing Helena to join them in going out. Helena had decided to skip Friday's night celebration and start to work on the report that was due in two weeks and get some rest for the following night. She had started to work on it for 30 min when her phone signaled that she had received a text from an unknown number. "What's the plan for tonight?" the message said, but Helena's reply was a curiosity about who's was texting her. "You have already forgotten me? That hurts." the person replied. "Well, I should not be too surprised; you did have a lot of shots last night." she r******w having an idea of whom might be texting her. After thinking a little, she replied, "Not my fault you couldn't keep up," she teased, trying to confirm her suspicion that the person texting her was Logan. However, the person took a little longer to reply, "Aren't you going out tonight?" mentioned changing the subject. She wondered if she had offended him after the sudden change in the conversation but preferred to answer without bringing back the old subject. "Not today, need some rest for tomorrow," she replied. "And I thought I would be able to get my revenge today." Logan's reply precisely what she needed to confirm her suspicions. He tried to convince her to join the celebration and go out for the night, but he also accepted his defeat after many attempts. " I want to enjoy tomorrow and won't be able to if I go out tonight," she replied, making her irritated that she had to, once again, explain her reason for not wanting to go out. "That's the beauty of having the 21st being on a Saturday, and we can party like crazy and rest on Sunday before getting back to the classroom." he insisted. She decided not to reply, as she wanted to concentrate on her work, but after a few moments, her phone rang again. "What's your plans for tomorrow?" he asked, changing once more the subject after accepting that she would not go out that night. Helena replied that her friends planned to walk around the waterfront and enjoy the main festival at night while waiting for the fireworks, finishing her text with " Nothing too big." "That sounds fun," he replied, "We decided to celebrate with a party in the river," he mentioned. "We rented a Yacht to party all night." "Bragging much?" she asked. She knew Logan was part of the Golden Frats, the popular fraternity in the university, in which most students would become successful in their careers. She always made fun of that fraternity, as she joked that they picked their members based on looks or founds in the bank account. She thought the same thing of the Diamont girls, the popular sorority that she considered at the same level as the golden frats. However, she disliked was due to an incident at the begging of her college life, when Sam accidentally tripped, falling face-first on the floor, dropping her drink and all her books on the floor. Unfortunately, a first-year Diamont was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Sam's drink splashed all over her shoe. The girl made such a big deal over her shoes, not even asking if Sam was ok, making Helena lose her cool with her. One thing led to another, and lots of the girls in that fraternity decided to make bully Helena in a settled way, bumping into her on hallways, making her trip, etc. After a few attempts to bully Helena, who had experience dealing with bullies, stood her ground, and sooner than later, the sorority started to leave her alone after noticing their tricks did not affect her how they wish it would. Helena was leaning on two pillows she stacked behind her while sitting down in bed with her laptop in her lap. The text that followed made her sat down straight, staring at her phone. "Would you and your friends like to come to our party?" was his reply. She was surprised about the invitation, not that she didn't want to go, but she believed that he wouldn't invite her after last night and this afternoon event. "You don't have to if you don't want to," he wrote after she didn't reply. "I..." she hesitated, "My friends are out and about. Can I answer you tomorrow?" She asked while she was sure her friends would never refuse such an invitation; she didn't want to assume before changing the plans. "Sure, no problem. I need to have a final headcount by 5:00 PM, and the boat leaves at 8:00 PM." That was the last text between the two of them. Helena placed her laptop on her nightstand and laid down on her bed. She started to dive deep into her thought, and without noticing, she fell asleep with a small smile on her lips. ... The next morning Helena was awakened by a ray of sunshine. She cringed at the light and frowning while trying to open her eyes, noticing the fact that she forgot to close her curtain before she fell asleep. Looking around the room, still tired but trying hard to wake up, she noticed Cristina was still asleep. She stretched her arms and used them to sit down, looking at a clock that showed 8:32 AM. She didn't want to wake up her roommate, so she decided to pick her laptop up to check the social media about the night before. Not long after, Cristina's cellphone rang, making her rollup under the covers, letting it go to the voicemail. Helena felt amused by the scene unfolding in front of her. By the third time the phone rang, Cristina grabbed it, not to answer it, but to throw it across the room. Helena laughed at how ridiculous her roommate looked right now but decided to answer the phone to tell whoever was calling that Cristina was not about to answer them. "Good Morning, my ray of sunshine," the voice said. Helena, now feeling too awkward as she believed she shouldn't hear hat, started to answer, but the person hanged up before she could finish. "You surely have Great Friends," Helena sarcastically to Cristina, who's was finally getting up; however, she looked like she could kill someone. Cristina slammed the bathroom door; Helena heard the shower start, and not long after, a waive of cursing words coming from there. She knew that Cristina has a hard time waking up any hours before 11:00 AM; due to that, she would jump in the cold water to force herself to wake up. "I will never understand why you and the world have agreed that I will not sleep in today," Cristina mentioned leaving the bathroom while drying her hair. "Why are you so cranky this morning?" Helena asked, not taking her eyes away from her laptop, "Did you not have fun last night?". Cristina, now sitting on her bed, looked like she didn't want to reply, murmured, "We were having fun until the diamondundies decided to show up.". That reply got Helena's attention as she lifted her head and looked at her friend. "It's like whenever they walk in, it's like they are the only people around." She finished with a sad voice. "Well, maybe tonight will be better," Helena mentioned, "By the way.." she started but was interrupted by a few loud knocks. Sam's face pocked through the door, "Are you girls awake?" she asked. "We are sure now with all that noise," Cristina complained, now laying down on the bed. "Oh, cry me a river, Cristina," Sam replied, sitting down next to her friend. "As I was saying," Helena continued with an angry voice after being interrupted. "I know we have planned to walk through the waterfront and enjoy the music from the festival," She stopped, taking a deep breath almost as she had to believe herself on the words coming out of her mouth, "Do you girls want to go to the Golden Frat's party?". Cristina and Sam looked at Helena in disbelief, and they started to make jokes, asking if she had hit her head the night before, if she had dreamed that she got the invitation, etc. They knew the party was the enviousness of all the students. It was a very exclusive party thrown by the three most riches and, consequently, the most popular students. They would each have a specific amount of invitations; however, and were known for surprising some random people with invitations. What Cristina and Sam could not believe is that Helena would be one of those people.
