The next day, Logan was in class, and as always, not paying attention to the teacher, thinking about the girl from the party. How did she know my name? He asked himself.
He tried hard to think back to all the parties his been to but couldn't remember ever seeing that girl around.
He leaned back on his chair, crossing his arms and getting deep in his thought.
"Does anyone know the answer to the question on the board?" Mrs. Jones asked while teaching strategy development. The class was silent; the students were either distracted or trying hard not to fall asleep.
"The party last night was that good?" she said sarcastically, "However you all still have to dedicate yourselves to this class, or I will fail every single one of you." she continued with a more serious tone.
"Miss Bianchini, perhaps you would try to answer instead of taking a nap?"
The girl in the back, wearing a dark grey hoodie, with her head down barely moved until the person next to her gave her a nudge, perhaps waking her up. The girl stood up from her chair, embarrassed, and asked the teacher to repeat the question.
The teacher wasn't happy about catching the student sleeping in class, and with no amusement in her voice, she repeated the question. She answered correctly, and the teacher made a comment before dismissing her, "You are an A grade Miss Bianchini. This time, I will let it pass, but I do not want ever to see you sleeping in my class again, am I clear?".
"Loud and clear, Mrs. Jones," replied Helena.
The voice sounded so familiar that it pulled Logan out of this thought, making him looking in the direction of the girl. His eyes widened, his jaw dropped. It was her, the girl from last night, looking tired with dark circles around her eyes, clearly looking like she was having the worse hangover.
Before she sat down, she looked in Logan's direction and winked at him, smiling. His face amused her, but she quickly sat down while looking like she tried hard to held down all the drinks from last night.
Logan could not believe his eyes; how did he never notice her before? He would discretely look back toward her, seeing her head nodding as she was trying hard not to fall asleep.
He tried not to stare, but he kept looking back at her. She had the type of beauty that you would overlook at first glance, but you could see how beautiful she was if you paid attention.
The bell ringed, announcing the beginning of the last summer weekend. All students got their belongings, leaving class to start their weekend, while Helena was still on her chair with her head down on her arms.
Logan walked towards her, coming to a stop standing next to her and noticing how she was sound asleep. He started to admire her complexion when he saw her phone next to her, a thought crossed his mind, and he let out a chuckle while reaching out for his phone in his pocket.
A few minutes later, Helena's phone rang so loud, making her jump awake. She looked around and notice that she was the only one left in the class, feeling so embarrassed that she didn't have time to answer her phone before the call went to voice mail. As she quickly decided to pick up all her stuff and leave the classroom, her phone started ringing again.
The number marked as blocked caller ID and decided to sense it to the voice mail again. By the third time her phone rang, she decided to answer it.
"Hello?" She said with a low, tired voice, "good morning, sleeping beauty, how was your nap?" asked a male voice.
"Who's this?" She asked, coming to a stop in the hallway, trying to think who could be calling her.
"Did your nap gave you amnesia? Or perhaps it was all the drinking last night." she could hear the amusement in Logan's voice.
That last comment gave out all the information she needed to know, "how did you get my phone number?" She asked, surprised, "Maybe you shouldn't fall asleep during classes and leave your stuff available for anyone to grab it."
"Haha, very funny, but how did you get my phone number?" She insisted. "It's a funny story; I tried to unlock your phone with no success, so I took it and left mine in your case so you wouldn't notice the difference."
Her eyes widened, she took the phone from her ear and looked at it, "What the f**k?" came out of her mouth, louder than she meant it to be.
"Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" he chuckled. Before she could finish her thought, she felt anger running in her vein.
"Relax, I'm on the stairs outside the main building. Just meet me here." Logan informed her, and without replying, Helena hangup and ran to meet with him.
She ran through the park, located in the middle of the four college buildings consisting of the library, the IT/Electronic department, the main building where all the faculty office was, and the lecture hall building.
The park had lots of trees, four passes that meet on a walking roundabout in the middle of the park, with a bronze statue of the college founder.
Helena finally left a sigh of relief after seeing Logan sitting on the main building's stairs, laughing with his friends. She slowed down her steps, and as she tried to catch her breath, she felt dizzy.
"Are you ok?" One of Logan's friends asked as he notices how pale she looked.
"Ya, I'm fine," she answered, taking a deep breath, "I will be better if I didn't have to run all the way here to get my phone." She finished glaring at Logan.
"Relax, I have it right here," he said, extending his hand holding her phone. As Helena tried to grab it, he pulls it away, "not so fast," he teased her, "before I hand it back, you have to do something first."
"What?" Helena answered angrily, "you steal my phone, and now you are asking for favors?" She asked while clenching her hands into a fist.
"Calm down; all you have to do is call your phone number from the cellphone on your hands," he asked smiling, "just to be sure it's yours," he finished with a wink.
"Seriously? Wasn't you the one who took it from me? Now I have to prove it's mine?" She started losing her patience.
"Just call it, and I will hand it to you, no big deal," he answered with an angelic face, but Helena wasn't amused, and the fact that his friends were giggling was not helping.
"Fine," she answered, looking at the phone she had been carrying. She swiped up, ready to ask for a password when it automatically unlocked, "no password?" She asked Logan with a confused expression.
"I have nothing to hide," He answered. Helena wasn't sure if it was his cockiness or because feeling sick, but all she wanted was to get her phone back and go back to bed, so she did as he asked.
She dialed her phone number and pressed call while showing the screen to the boys. He smiled when he noticed the phone on his hand ringing and even jokingly answered.
She grabbed the phone off his hand, "Stop joking around as I'm not in the mood." she said and handed him his phone. "Well, know that I got your phone number," he said, looking at the screen, "Perhaps you want to tell me your first name, or should I just leave it as Miss Bianchini?" he finished teasingly.
